I'm loving the trip down olfactory memory lane.
I'll see your stink of burning carbon resistors,
and raise you one heavily zapped selenium rectifier!
A unique fragrance, to be sure.
I'm gonna offer the "problem child" with the sticky
buttons first, only to those hardy and capable folks
who are confident they can fix it. That unit is working
pretty well the last two days. I've left it turned on
24 hours to try to "bake" the evil out of it, and my
impression is that it's helping -- but it's still sticky.
(Sticky is to be understood in the electronic sense, and
not the gummy-mung and crud sense. The radio is clean.)
But I want to be sure a newbie to hands-on repair
doesn't bite off too much to chew with it.
That one is serial number C008947.
Then, I'll offer one of the other two. Either
C004813 or 006687 (no "C"). Whichever one you
guys think is worth more (frankly, because I need
the money). They both work fine. One has some
slightly blurred logo paint because I once tried
to clean some finger-mung off it using alcohol, and
I saw instantly the alcohol was blurring the paint.
So I stopped and let it dry thoroughly, and finished
the job with a damp cloth. I don't honestly know of
those two which is the slightly blurry paint. I'll
supply large and detailed photos when sale day comes.
Refer to the original message for the rest of the
details of the deal proposed.
I'm the original and only owner of all three. I don't
smoke since 1968.

Hey gang, I appreciate all of you sharing your learning experiences, but
what started this was Bill wanting to sell a couple of DX-394
receivers. Bill, are they still up for sale?
