Queens Pride House (QPH) is the name of the Queens Lesbian and Gay Community Center, Inc. which was established in Queens Borough Hall in 1997. This is the e-mail newsletter for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered communities of Queens. All are invited to join this e-mail list. You will receive an occasional newsletter and occasional announcements of events. The center moved from it's storefront space in Woodside to a larger space at 76-11 37th Avenue,#206, Jackson Heights 718-429-5309. The center completed the first ever comprehensive needs assessment of the Queens LGBT community in 2001 (funded by Stonewall Community Foundation).
The mission of QPH is to provide safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals so that they can reach their full potential. QPH sponsors programs, conducts cultural events and lets out space to other groups. Queer Links is the QPH health information and referral program. The center is open Thursdays Friday 5-9 PM, Saturday 2-7pm and other times scheduled on our calendar. Call for our office hours.
Queens Pride House is funded by individual donations, government funding and foundations. Our major funder is the N.Y.State Department of Health through the LGBT Health Human Services Network coordinated by Empire State Pride Agenda Foundation (funds obtained through lobbying by the Empire State Pride Agenda -ESPA - www.prideagenda.org). QPH won a competitive five year grant from the NYS Department of Health funded by the governor. QPH receives funding from local legislators but is dependent on donations from individuals.
