FYI Sandy had a stroke last week. He should be home by now.
I tried to reach him in the hospital but was unsuccessful in my attempts.
You could call him at home.

I RECEIVED THIS FROM NATIONAL LIST, 73 MIKE K4HBI, FYI
Good Morning,
It's become more and more apparent over the past several years that we (QCWA) are losing our history right before your eyes. This was driven home again last night when I received notice that Dwight, W2ATM had become a Silent Key on May 29th. Dwight was QCWA Member # 2117.
All I received was a copy of his obituary which was very sparse. After googling W2ATM I was able to pull together more information on Dwight and add it to his QCWA SK web page ( http://www/qcwa.org/w2atm-sk.htm).
I've had the honor of posting 132 SK pages thus far (http://www.qcwa.org/silent-keys-date.htm) and it's time to take the next step. It's time we start honoring our members while they are still among us.
I'm proposing a new area for the QCWA Website and I need your help. So I can keep up, I'd like you to interview and gather pictures (high school or collage graduation and current would be nice) of QCWA members that have membership numbers lower than 3500, are over 90 or are in failing health. You may also include QSL cards, pictures of their stations, almost anything that pertains to their Ham experience
I don't expect you to do this yourself, but I hope you will see that it gets done. In the future, we'll seek out the next set of younger members.
Submit everything to me at broske@...
tnx es 73, Bob, N0UF QCWA Webmaster

Mike, it is my sad duty to tell you that W4BFR, Bruce, died yesterday. The funeral arrangements will be announced in Wednesday's paper.
Ham radio was a big part of his life, and his association with the hams in Chapter 49 gave him a lot of pleasure, which I shared also.

Anyone driving to the Dayton Hamvention who would be interested in
allowing me to ride along, help drive, and share gas expenses. I have
confirmed reservations at the Crowne Plaza for Thursday night through
Saturday night and had planned to leave early Thursday and drive alone
as previously. However, with gas prices being what they are, I'd just
as soon not do that if at all possible. I also have a nagging muscle
sprain in my lower back that would probably make such a solo drive of
12+ hours from Greenville,GA to Dayton less than enjoyable. The
kindness of any good Samaritan would be greatly appreciated. BTW,
though unrelated, I spoke with Chuck in Framingham today and my 50 year
anniversary award should be in the mail tomorrow! Best 73's to all.

As things presently stand, I have room reservations at the Crowne Plaza
and intend to make it to Dayton, having missed it last year. I'd be
agreeable to getting together with other 49'ers there at a mutually
convenient time. Best, Ron, W4ALJ.
I plan to attend. I'll start out with QRP-ARCI's Four Days in May then
go over to the hamvention.
