So apologies for any disappointment.

Update: March 2009
In the absence of any response the Middleton Railway has decided to operate
it's own photo charter on the afternoon of Thursday 4th June 2009 with
visiting class 05 D2578. This will take place from 13:00 to 17:00 and will
feature our recently restored freight stock in BR livery (see:
http://railways.national-preservation.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=18284) We
intend to traverse both the running line from Moor Road to Middleton Park
Halt and the Balm Road branch (2 ungated level crossings) with this charter
and we hope to accommodate any reasonable photo stop/runpast requests - but
the weather is at your own risk! In the evening D2578 will operate passenger
trains between Moor road and Middleton Park Halt only at 18:00, 18:40, 19:20
and 20:00.
Tickets for the afternoon charter will cost £20 and will include a free
evening rover ticket for the passenger services (which will cost £5 alone).
The Engine House will be open for light refreshments between the charter and
the evening services.
If you would like to take part in the charter advance booking is
recommended. Please send a cheque for £20 payable to 'Middleton Railway
Trust' to: D2578 Charter, Middleton Railway, the station, Moor Road, Leeds,
LS10 2JQ and enclose an SAE for your ticket. A booking form will be
available at www.middletonrailway.org.uk shortly or please contact

We're pleased to announce that D1566 will be out on 4 full trips on both
Saturday 4th April and Saturday 9th May, offering some decent mileage
accumulation and 4 climbs of Berwyn Bank! A day rover is available for £10.
Timetable is as follows:
10.30 ex Llangollen and 11.15 rtn from Carrog
12.00 ex Llangollen and 13.00 rtn from Carrog
14.00 ex Llangollen and 15.00 rtn from Carrog
16.00 ex Llangollen and 17.00 rtn from Carrog
More info and news can be found on our new website (note slightly different
address if you had it previously bookmarked)
http://llangollendiesels.co.uk/
D1566 was successfully tested on 3 full trips last Saturday on crew training
turns and was in good voice!
We hope to have ETH stock on the 4th April trip (if it's cold enough mind!) and
a small sales stand on the trains, offering DVD's and railwayana. We look
forward to seeing a few folk for a good Sulzer day out!
Eastleigh will host the first public appearance for more than 18 years of No.
50026 Indomitable. In it's final stages of a restoration to main line condition,
the loco, once a resident of Booth's Rotherham, will be started publicly for the
first time on the Saturday. Finished in large logo blue livery, the weekend will
also see the loco re-dedicated by some of the survivors of the WW2 aircraft
carrier that was scrapped in 1955. Withdrawn in December 1990, after a spell at
Laira and Booth's the loco, intended as a source of spares for 50027 Lion, was
moved to MoD Bicester for restoration, and was the loco that was dropped. Fully
repaired, it's appearance is not to be missed.
Also appearing, and making its debut in Loadhaul livery will be No. 50035 Ark
Royal, and it is hoped this loco will be rededicated too.
There should also be on site a couple of Class 59, a pair of Colas 47s, 37425,
47580, and some DRS Class 37s.
Tickets for Saturday are selling fast and it is recommended that visitors opt
for Sunday/Monday.

The Hunslet Homecoming
Class 05 diesel shunter D2578 is returning to Leeds, the City of its birth,
for the first time in June 2009. It will be its first visit to a preserved
line and its first public passenger trains. No visits to other preserved
lines are in the pipeline so if you want to see, photograph or ride behind
this Hunslet built shunter then don't miss this rare opportunity!
The loco will be visiting the historic Middleton Railway in Leeds for 4 days
only. Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th June 2009. This, coincidentally, is also
the ever-popular Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Diesel Gala and so West
Yorkshire is the place to be in early June! On Thursday and Friday the
locomotive will be available for photo charters and it is hoped to run
evening passenger trains. On the Saturday and Sunday it will take part in
the Middleton Railway's Diesel Gala where it will appear alongside LMS 7051
(built by Hunslet) and Hunslet 1786 - also known as 'Courage' or 'Sweet
Pea'. This gala will feature the Balm Road branch with passenger and freight
trains (the latter with passenger accommodation in the brake van) as well as
an appearance by the popular RTC red and blue liveried Drewry Car RDB998901.
We hope to operate some form of link with the KWVR Diesel Gala and there is
the possibility of trains on the Sunday evening - 35 minute round trip on
D2578 on your way home from Keighley perhaps?
To register your interest and receive update emails about the event, please
email the Traffic Manager at trafficmanager@.... Please
send requests for photographic or other charters to the same address. We can
now offer a fully renovated freight train with a recently repainted mineral
wagon, Dogfish and Palvan - all should feature at the gala.

Hi,
This is a quick note to advise that the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway at
Wirksworth, Derbyshire will be holding a 50th Birthday celebration on Sunday
10th May.
The event concerns no less than five DMU vehicles that were built in 1959
and between them they have clocked-up nearly 15 million miles.
The vehicles concerned are:
W51360: Pressed Steel, Cl. 117 DMBS
M56224: Derby, Cl. 108 DTCL
M51188: Met Cam, Cl. 101 DMBS
E51505: Met Cam, Cl. 101 DMC
W51073: GRCW, Cl. 119 DMBC (under restoration)
We shall be running a special timetable on our two standard gauge lines; the
3.5 mile line south to Idridgehay and the 0.5 mile branch on a 1 in 30
incline to Ravenstor, and much variety is promised. We will also be holding
a cake-cutting ceremony with bubbly or a soft drink for those with the car
keys.
A one-day unlimited travel ticket for the day will be £10 and more details
can be found at our website: www.e-v-r.com.
Kind regards,
