The Caledonian Railway Diesel Group (CRDG) are pleased to announce
that their May diesel gala will be a celebration of the 50th
anniversary of the class 26 locomotives. The gala takes place on the
May bank holiday weekend (the 3rd, 4th and 5th) and features two of
the four operational members of the class. Resident loco D5314 will be
joined in hauling trains by D5300 which is visiting the Angus line
from the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. Both locos are painted in
original BR Green livery with no yellow warning panels. Also in
service will be 27024 and the rest of the group's fleet will be on
display.
An intensive timetable will operate, with day rover and cab ride
tickets available. For further details, please see the group's website
at www.crdg.co.uk or telephone Ena Wilkie – the Caledonian Railway's
publicity director – on 01561 377760
Regards,
Jed Scott,
Caledonian Railway Diesel Group.
My previous post reagarding the Caledonian Railway's May Diesel Gala
contains an unfortunate typing error.
D5301 is of course the visiting loco at this event, not D5300 which
remains under restoration at Barrow Hill.
Sorry for any confusion caused!

Jed Scott

Hi all,
I knocked up this timetable for the diesel gala, a difficult task with
only 3 locomotives and an 08! However I've tried to put in something
of interest for everybody with a couple of double headers each day and
each locomotive getting a reasonable number of turns! However it is
only provisional at the moment until about Friday evening!
There's also the possibility of D182 and D212 making appearances on
the Sunday (subject to various repair works being completed of course!)
I've also uploaded the working timetables for the weekend if anybody
want to use them!

The Midland Railway Butterley will be running its 1960's Gala over the
weekend of May 17/18th featuring a variety of different engines both
Steam and Diesel.
Steam wise will see 73129 with the possibility of 53809.
Diesel wise it will be quite interesting with D212, D6586, D8001 and
visiting locomotive D8048 all ruinning on both days and the 114 DMU
shuttling between Swanwick and Butterley during the day.
There will be both goods trains and passenger trains out and about
over the weekend with various 1960's displays all around the site.
The timetable has yet to be finalised however hopefully this will
become available closer to the time.
Thanks,
Paul Bardill
SDR - I am waiting for confirmation from the gala organisers but I have been
told that 47375 is to star at the SDR vice 47237. (Gen from D Rickett)
SDR - I have also been told that they are hoping that 47309 might join in the
fun - though this is very much subject to confirmation.
SVR - Would someone please post which rods rolled today - we need clarification
on this as the roster quotes 2x08 (no numbers) and there are a number of
different 08's there, and in addition the gen before the gala stated D3022+12099
(i.e. 1x08+1x11). So if someone could clear that up for us please.
I posted this e-mail last night but it hasn't appeared on PresGen yet. Hence
this re-post. I apologise is you eventually end up with two.
Best regards

Hi all,
Due to unforseen circumstances D6586 will now no long be running

However D8048, D8001 and D212 will be, along with Steam Locomotive 73129.
Thanks,

The staff at Bewdley say they don't know what engine is running on what train,

47 309 hauled 33 202 and 47 375 down the branch to Buckfastleigh earlier
tonight. Unfortunatley the loco did not sound too good, and on arrival a number
of problems came to light that need attending to before it can run. At 23.55,
and after much effort the decision was taken to fail the loco and it will now
not take part in the gala as such.
47 375 will haul 309 back to Totnes in the morning, where it will be stabled on
the mainline spur prior to departure again on Sunday. 47 375 will now cover all
47 turns during the weekend.
