Description

Polyamory Social & Discussion Group for the surrounding area of Tobermory, Ontario, Canada.

Once there are a few members, we hope to begin to have socials in some public place in this area. Please don't bother to join if you are not living on or around Bruce Peninsula.

Appropriate list topics will have anything to do with polyamorous issues, relationship issues, local social activities notices, asking for or offering advice on any of the above mentioned. Introductions and personal ads are welcome.

Polyamory, translated, means "many loves."
Polyamory is a general term covering a wide variety of relationship styles, including group marriage (polyfidelity), open marriage, and expanded family; another format is a single person who has a few long-term beloved dating partners rather than just one at a time. Gays and lesbians are able to be polyamorous, as are bisexuals and heterosexuals.

What Polyamory Isn't
Polyamory isn't "swinging." The difference between the two is quite simple. In swinging, the emphasis is on sax. And while sax is as important to polyamory as it is to monogamy, the true emphasis is the same as that of monogamy: love.

Polyamory is not "cheating." It is a relationship structure built with the knowledge and approval of all partners involved. No secret relationships exist in polyamory. Openness, honesty, communication, trust... All the things that are key to a monogamous relationship are vital to polyamory.

Polyamory is not out to replace monogamy. Just as monogamy doesn't "fit" certain individuals, neither does polyamory. Like most things in life, it's a matter of personal choice.
