This mailing list is a tool for organizing (and distributing information about) the monthly Polish Happy Hour (PHH) meetings in the Chicago metro area.
WHAT
PHH is a very informal monthly gathering, geared towards Polish *professionals*. While Polish language is native to most members and seems to predominate during the meetings, some people are more fluent in English. Therefore, English is used for communication purposes on this list.
WHY
The purpose of PHH is to enable people from various professions to meet, socialize and build a network of professional friends/colleagues in order to promote the Polish language, culture and, most importantly, form an integrated society of Polish Professionals in the Chicagoland area.
HOW
Every month, members may submit their meeting place recommendations. The moderators then compile these suggestions into a voting poll enabling everyone to vote for their preferred venue. The one with highest number of votes becomes the meeting place for that month's PHH.
WHEN
Usually around 8pm - 11pm on last Friday of each month. The exact date and place are always announced after the voting poll closes, which is usually about two weeks before the actual meeting date.
WHERE
While allowing people to relax and unwind, meet old friends as well as make new ones, a certain level of "professionalism" needs to be maintained. Therefore, keeping the meetings in a low key, NON-NIGHTCLUB, free of live and loud music atmosphere is crucial. This type of setting is more conductive to its purpose - talking and socializing.
