Forwarded - received from Jerry Hurta

My thoughts overwhelmed from the pen
Denied not the thoughts from the heart
Fulfilling the odyssey to which I continue
Enjoyment of peircing thy vein to bleed-
Just one more poem of love, hate and fire
Enchanced by thought coming from the soul
Bewildered by EDgar Allen Poe the Raven
Staring out and delivering just one poem
Thank you, for the words shall repeat-
Earthly the nature of a Poet Finest Quest...

I received a few messages from members, including Tony Burch
and SIMpoet, for more details about the Poemsring.

Yes, we've lost a lot of members. TheGlobe has closed, i.e. the
server with all the old messages and user details has closed down.
It's tragic, but we try and get over it and start again here!

So, every old member who replied to the invitation email
has now automatically become a member of the new Poemsring
here at Yahoo! SIMpoet and tony, you can both post messages
to the entire group now without moderation.

Just post a message by replying, or by sending from the email
address that you're receiving messages at.

If you like to post on the web, change settings, etc, go to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/poemsring
Click on "sign in" and use your Yahoo username and password.
If you haven't got a Yahoo username, you'll go through the
registration procedure to choose one. If you like, you can use
your Yahoo username and post and read messages on the web only,
without getting messages forwarded to your private email address.

Let me know if there are any problems!

Thanks all for being a member!
I look forward to see your poems here!

i never really thought that

any single comment at any given moment, made in the paths of daily life

could echo so, echo so

over magazines and envelopes stuffed with junk mail and bills, cups in the sink by the kitchen window,

pictures on the refirgerator door, fixed with tiny red chili peppers, sleek, magnetic

fixing coulorful squares of terrible, beautiful kids and chore lists and faucets that leak or toilets that stop and

daily duties and comedies and traumas, laundry, groceries, and sleeping nude, always;

plans and old relationhips and meanings and overall my deep and true love for you.

and yours for me. ours.

everyday, often silent, despite trivia, past, happenstance, or design.

given.

i kept thinking, all through that bright morning, that next day, and

the weeks and months and years trailing softly behind each day that came before, and

probably from that moment on, then, and into the endless haze of futures,

that never in a million years my last words to you could

have been

so casual.

It hurts so much
It hurts so much
To feel like Im never gonna be good enough
Like Ill never be thin enough,
Cute enough
Sweet enough
Ill never be enough for you
Ill never be what you want

You proved it
When you didn't call
When you did fall
When you didn't give it your all
When you pushed me away
When you refused to stay

You broke my heart
But my heart will heal
You destroyed my confidence
But it will heal too
Id though Id love you forever
But its over boo

~You Said~
You said you loved me so much
You wanted to take me away
You promised to keep me safe
And you swore no pain would come my way

You said you loved me
So much it hurt
Had me in tears
Your wicked plan worked

You made it sound so real
Made me believe
But you did it all
Just to crushed my dreams

You sad you loved me
You said you did
So why is it now
That promise is no good?

If this is what love is supozda be,
I can tell you I never ever ever want to fall in love
Ever again.
I never want another relationship If this is how its supozda be.

If this is how it's supozda be then I want love to stay the hell away
from me.
I want it to leave me be
I want it to elude me

Are you sure this is how its supozda be?
With me in tears
Consumed by fears

What did I do?
What didnt I do?
How can we be through?

Are you sure this is how its supozda be?
With both of us hating me?
If this is how its supozda be,
I want love to stay the hell away from me!

Love was so empty
I never knew why
Till I saw your love through another's eyes

When I took myself out
And looked all around
Pain and neglect was all I found

Left me alone at night
Went out with your boys
Never gave a thought to my emotions
With which you toyed

I gave it so freely
Hoping you meant all you said
But now that love is dead

My heart will heal
But how will you deal
Now that Im gone?

You put me off
And put me on
Never realizing the longer you did it
The sooner I'd be gone

You lied to me
I believed it to
Found me unworthy
Though thats nothing new

Now I see
You're nothing without me
Now after everything you threw away
Don't you wish you had just stayed?

Floating Silently
by Jim Nasium

I was floating silently
around dusk and the sky was clear
just letting the wind take me
I didn't want to come down from there
the air was cool and smelled so fresh
I'm amazed at how far I could see
taking a hot air balloon ride last night
was a great experience for me
©2001 Jim Nasium

and now for something completely different

Floating Silently [Again]
by Jim Nasium

He struggles to stay sober
taking it one day at a time
trying to forget his past
wanting just one more dime
we all know that he knows better
but he'll go to that place anyhow
once he gets inside the door
he'll become one of the foul

He'll sit in the darkest corner
he prefers to be left alone
keeps his gun by his side
right next to his cell phone
he's able to pay for what he wants
can do anything he wants to do
he just wants to float silently again
if you were him you'd want to too

He hasn't been down for awhile
well not lately any how
he knows there's a better way to life
and he's gonna get that somehow
just as soon as he floats silently again
once more for the very last time
sitting there for as long as it takes
doing dime after dime

I'd like to offer you this poem all about the hot air baloon ride I took
last night. I wonder, have you ever flown in a hot air balloon? If not see
the attachment to get an idea of what it looks like....

The Hot Air Baloon Ride
by Jim Nasium

Last night at just about sunset
I got high as high could be
I was up in a hot air balloon
totally amazed at all I could see
the cars below looked just like ants
the farm fields looked like little squares
the sunset was the best I ever saw
for awhile I forgot all my cares

I hung over the side of the basket
that was held by cables from the balloon
watching sunsets colors in the sky
I knew night would fall real soon
the air up there was cool and fresh
I didn't want to go down
I watched the lights come on slowly
below me in the small town

We floated with the wind for awhile
then we started going the wrong way
the pilot started to lowered us
but I begged him to let us stay
up in the sky a little longer
I was having such a good time
I've never done anything like this before
so I had to write about it in rhyme

I'll admit I was a bit disappointed
that we landed in some corn field
behind the barn of some Amish farm
where many a soul has been healed
we traveled back to our starting point
inside of some guys van
I had no idea it wasn't a round trip
no one ever explained the flight plan

I can't wait to fly in a balloon again
I think I just got hooked
perhaps I'll buy a balloon of my own
by the way today I went and looked
at a few smaller balloon packages
I liked one for 65 K
I gott'a think about this first
but I'd like to buy it right away

If you ever get a chance to hot air balloon
please jump on the opportunity
you have no idea how peaceful it is
it's amazing all you can see
be sure to say your prayers
before you do go up
because if anything goes wrong
your helpless and out of luck
hahahaaa

Great work, Jim, it makes a powerful statement against the "war
against drugs" policy and what that leads to. It's hard to speak out
against the "war of drugs" without being accused of glorifying drugs.
In this case, you've succeeded very well in this respect, Jim. Just a
tiny point: the letter "l" is missing in walking.

I also like the way "To Let Her Play With My Heart" shows up in the
archive, beautiful!

Thanks for posting!

Life in prison is no joke for some, like the poor boy I write about in this poem that I call:

Everything In His Life Went Wrong
by  Jim Nasium

He was only eighteen years old
when he was jailed for a petty crime
thrown into a pit with full grown men
the lowest type of slime
he had no idea what would happen
after all he was just a boy
but it didn't take long at all
for him to be treated as a toy

The first man to approach him
was very gentle and kind
the fact that this man wanted him so
drove the young boy out of his mind
he was a very young boy
no hair on his face or ass
I guess if you were so inclined
you could call him a beautiful lass

The next time he was confronted
in the back of the kitchen one night
three men grabbed him and beat him up
he didn't have a chance to fight
they took what they wanted from him
and left him lying on the floor
then one'a the men took him again
he wanted just a little more

The guard found him raped and bleeding
tied up and covered with shit
they took him to the hospitable
but he never got over it
he never spoke one word at all
just lay there quiet all the time
some of the nurses in the jail hospital
though he had lost his mind

The day that he went back to his cell block
he knew he didn't have one friend
as he was waking down the hall
some one said "it's gonna happen again"
late that night by candle light
he tore his sheets into strips and made rope
hung him self from the ceiling light
he was lost and could see no hope

Another young man passes away
serving time he didn't deserve to do
for something like selling crack cocaine
to folks who like to do
the things that will get you in prison
a place where he didn't belong
after he was raped he killed himself
everything in his life went wrong

This one [IMHO] is [was] so nice, that I just had'a post it twice, only this time it's in a rich text [html] format, and there's been a bit more added to the poem...

I hope you like this, the re-write of:

To Let Her Play With My Heart
by  Jim Nasium

The young lady was very beautiful
but under-dressed for this place
I knew that she wanted to meet me
the moment I first saw her face
she made her way across the room
through the well dressed smoky crowd
she looked me deep in the eye
then screamed my name out loud

I asked her what the matter could be
she just broke down and cried
she said she always wanted to meet me
but felt that I was trying to hide
from her at other events like this
the opening of my new art show
I told her that I was very sorry
then asked if there was someplace we could go

She took my hand lead me through the door
then she told her driver to get the car
she said we could go to her summer house
on the beach that it's not too far
I told her I had a show to do
she said she'd buy everything
then pulled down my zipper and gave me head
this lady made me feel just like a king

We pulled into the round about
made of brick in front of her home
she told the driver to park the car
then to leave she wanted to be alone
we went inside to a black glass sunroom
where there was an indoor pool
had some drinks and swam naked for awhile
then she starting treating me like a fool

When ever I tired to touch her
she'd quickly pull away
when I tried to start conversation
she didn't have too much to say
she sat there in the whirlpool
sipping at her strong drink
I had no idea what was on her mind
I didn't know the way she thinks

I gave my luck one more try
I told her that I thought
it was very generous of her
I wanted to thank her for the art she bought
I think she knew what I wanted
I'm sure she wanted it too
then she put her drink down
said let me explain the rules to you

She told me the things to do to her
I wasn't allowed my own way
were going to do this by my rules she said
that is if you still want to play
when I considered how beautiful she was
and the fact she just bought all my art
I figured what the heck it'd be ok
to let her play with my heart

Yes on all counts! All new members will initially be moderated, to
avoid spam, so not all features may be immediately available. As you
know, members can be moderated individually at Yahoogroups and I've
just switched you to unmoderated, as I will do with all known poets

Thank you for inviting me to join this new poetry list... [to me] it's
refreshig to find a brand new list, where each member can hopefull start
anew with a clean slate... Will we be allowed to send in attachments, like
a drawing in a [small] .jpg file format? Are you going to have a files
section, where members of this groups can upload their pictures or art? Are
you aware of the files section? Will you have chats? each yahoogroups.com
list has [gets] a free chat room too... for all the great features of this
list, just got to this web page:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/poemsring

I think you all know who I am and what I do so I won't bother with an
introduction, but I'd like to offer you a poem I wrote that was inspired by
looking at my son, by watching him, and looking deep into his eyes from time
to time, now that he is staying here with me, for the summer to work, now
and then along with me and to vacation befor he has to go back to school...

The hardest thing I've ever had to do
is look at our son and not think about you
although he looks a whole lot like me
there are still some things that I can see
that are his features but your features too
and there are little things that'll he do
I think you'll agree he's a lot like me
but every now and then I'll see
something deep in our sons eyes
it makes me want to break down and cry
the hardest thing I've ever had to do
is look at our son, and try not to think about you

The hardest thing I've ever had to do
is sit alone at night till half past two
to call you when it's your free time of day
because you live 3000 miles away
and there is 3 hours of time zones between
it's all too much do you know what I mean
then just when I think everything is ok
another new problem pops up every day
I don't know who else I can turn to
I call for advice just to talk to you
the hardest thing I've ever had to do
is have my son live with me and not think about you

I've also posted an MP3 file of the song, at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/poemsring/files
It's a 1994 dusty version, some 2.5 MB, which will take some 16
minutes to download on a standard dial-up telephone line.

HOME IS WHERE WE WANT IT TO BE

Have you ever been away;
left the one place where you used to stay;
and felt lonely, lonely like a dog,
that has been left behind in the fog?

Then it's home, home, home's the place to be;
when you're homesick there's nothing else you can see
but home, home, home's the place to be,
there is only one place you want to be.

If you've ever felt like I just told
and you've been hungry and lying in the cold
and you think you've left the one place to be
for something else that you wanted to see,

Then it's home, home, home's the place to be;
when you're homesick there's nothing else you can see
but home, home, home's the place to be,
home is the one place where you feel free.

You may believe that when your hometown is back in sight,
all your troubles have gone and everything is gonna be all right;
but let me tell you that home is not a geographical site,
but it's to live in freedom without having to fight.

There is a home, home, a home for you and me;
and it is not a prison, but a feeling to be free;
one home, a home and yet another one makes three;
let's make the world full of homes for you and me.
The world is our home, home, home,
home is wherever we want home to be.

Welcome to the Poems Ring!

If you like, you can post a message here that
contains a poem. Put the title of the poem in
the subject line and once more in capitals at
the top of the message, so people can reply
and comment more easily!

Cheers!
