The concept behind Freecycle™ is simple: you have something you no longer need (a couch, a crib, a CD, a computer) and you wish to "recycle" it rather than throw it in the landfill. Or you are looking for a specific item (a couch, a crib, a CD, a computer), and you don't mind getting it for free. Pocono Freecycle is the place where you can post notices about the items you'd like to give away as well as things that you need. The only catch is that it has to be FREE!

Through Pocono Freecycle, we can help the environment by helping to cut down on waste going into landfills while also helping members of our communities here in the Poconos.

Our geographic region covers the Pocono Mountains, which is a fairly large region. However, there are other nearby local Freecycle groups that you might wish to join -- see http://www.freecycle.org for other groups that are available to you.

We do have a few rules that you must follow in order to participate in the online group, so be sure to read those before posting your first message. (You'll get a summary by e-mail when you join the group, and a copy is in the Files section for future reference.)

Be sure to check out The Freecycle Network at http://www.freecycle.org for more information on the Freecycle movement. Everybody has something they want to get rid of, so instead of dragging it out to the curb and filling the landfills, why not connect to someone who probably wants what you have?
