My intent is to create a group site for the Pinhoti Trail in AL and GA. Information today is scatered amoung many web site and is seldon very current. I want this group site to be where you go for the most current information available. I expect to hike or look at portions of this Trail System at least every two months and would hope to also include current information from others hiking all or portions of the Pinhoti Trail. I will list information about where you can get Maps and other Trail information. The Pinhoti Trail is the main connector between the Eastern Continental Trail which starts in Key West, Florida and the Applichian Trail and on North at Springer Mountain, GA. The Pinhoti Trail connects to the Benton Mackay Trail in North Georgia and the Benton Mackaye Trail contuines on to Springer Mountain, GA., the Southern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail. Not all of the Georgia connection is finished as a woods trail. For the purpose of this site the Pinhoti Trail Southern Terminus is the old CCC built "Flagg Mountaim Fire Tower" a little South of the Alabama town of Weogufka, AL. The Northern Terminus is the junction of the Pinhoti Trail and the Benton Mackaye Trail on the South Fork Trail in the woods North-West of Dyer Mountain, GA.
