We use Cameron Medical Group in downtown Silver Spring which is convenient and they are fine. For the initial appt., if you ask to see a nurse practitioner rather than a doctor, you will get in a lot quicker. They take Carefirst, I'm not sure what else.

Who is your pediatrician? We are having to switch insurance plans and have to find one that takes United. Can anyone else recommend good pediatricians, esp. near Silver Spring/Takoma?

We are new to the neighborhood and would like to have some recommendations for
babysitters in the area.  Our daughter is 2 years old and her normal day care is
closed on the 14th and so I need someone to watch her either in the morning or
the afternoon (from 8-12 or 1-4). I can handle the other shift. This can be at
our house or theirs.

This year the DCPS lottery starts on Jan 28, and you can choose up to 6 schools
(one more than last year!) Your child has to turn 3 before Sept. 30, 2010 in
order to enroll for PS-3 in the 2010-11 school year; some of the charter schools
have different cut-off ages (ie, LAMB is Sept. 1 for PS-3). LAMB is strict about
the birthday, and from my experience so are the DCPS programs.
This group lists all the stats about PCS and DCPS schools, it's not been updated
for 2009, but it's a good resource and lists which schools have what programs in
DC:
