Description

This list is for people who are interested in adoptions from Peru. We welcome adoptive and pre-adoptive parents, grandparents. As well as agency personnel from the USA, Italy, Spain and other countries. We are also happy to have members from the Adoption Authority (SNA) in Peru, agency representatives, orphanage directors, volunteers and others interested in this topic. We will discuss the adoption process in Peru, its rich culture, and provide support and networking. There is a great need for parents interested in adopting special needs children in Peru from the "Angeles que Aguardan" campaign, their Waiting Angels. Priority is given to families wishing to adopt from this campaign. Healthy children and infants over 6 months of age are also available but the majority of healthy children placed in the USA are between the ages of 12 months and 6 years. Many don't understand why recently less than 30 children a year are assigned to USA families since the orphanages are overcrowded. But the majority of children residing in these orphanages are not leaglly free to be declared abandoned and then placed in adoptive homes. Poverty and a family's dire circumstances force Peruvian parents to place their children in the orphanages until they are able to reclaim them and care for them. They do this because they know their child/ren will have a nice place to live, food, health care and most important an education. Something many Peruanos are unable to give their children. Peru's children are beautifl and many have an incredibly strong spirit and excel in academics, sports and the arts once adopted.
