PeopleUnited is the e-mail listserve for Ryerson students, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters who are interested in creating a better world.

PeopleUnited is a group of university-based activists who are working together to oppose corporate-driven economic fundamentalism and monopoly capitalist globalization and its harmful local effects - and propose and implement real alternatives.

This particular kind of globalization is exploiting the earth's human and natural resources and threatening a global ecological collapse. Further, it is creating massive social and economic instability which results in highly unstable political conditions that breed nationalism, xenophobia and terrible acts of war and terror. It is also a time where positive change can take shape and become reality.

Having traveled to the 2001 Québec Summit to oppose the Free Trade Area of the Americas, confronted the Group of Eight (G8) leaders in Alberta in 2002, organized rallies against the ongoing War on Iraq in 02/03, and consistently worked to oppose federal and provincial cuts to Ryerson's operating funding and de-regulated fee increases, we now face an Ontario election to oust the Tories, more regressive back-door trade meetings to organize against, and an exciting National Day of Action for post-secondary education in February, 2004. With so much at stake, it's never been a better time to get involved!
