Unitarian Universalist Fellowship has virtually no doctrine. They believe each person should pursue their own path, whatever it is and they do have a Pagan faction (C.U.U.Ps. or Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans http://www.cuups.org/content/intro.html) group also. Main web site: http://www.uua.org/
I must admit that I wasn't prepared for the teen years. LOL I do think going through the hormones is easier with boys than girls though. They deal a whole lot differently with their hormones than girls do.
All 3 are so different in personality and they do clash quite a bit. In our house hold we have Warren and Abner are Aries, Josh and Me are Leo's and Gilbert is a Pisces.
Abner is more into his video games than he is into girls right now. He has had a couple of girlfriends but they got upset cause they would call and he would be more into the video games than talking to them. Josh on the other hand there are girls calling here all the time. Gilbert hasn't really gotten to the stage yet of really liking girls other than them just being friends.
Gilbert hasn't told any of his friends at school cause he has finally gotten to where he isn't constantly in fights and don't want to give any of the kids a reason to start any either at least that is what he told me plus he is afraid that the few friends that he does have wouldn't be his friends anymore. I leave the decision up to him. Going to school in Cabot is hard enough.
When I could safely drive my car I had my bumper stickers that said Blessed Be, My other car is a broom, and Magic Happens and I wear my goddess pendant in the open but my pentacle is under my shirt. I am not totally in the broom closet but not completely out either.
Josh and his friend told Gilbert today that he wasn't going to heaven and he told them that he didn't believe in it and then they said that for that he was going h*** and he told them that he didn't believe in it either. He also told them that the Christian Bible is just another book to him. LOL
Gilbert has been to Christians churches when he has wanted to go and came home one time telling me that they said that jealousy was a sin but in the bible it says that we have a jealous God and he said then that would mean that God sinned. LOL
He has picked up on the contradictions in the Christian religions real quick.
He has his own mind and is very smart. He told me today that he thinks he is smarter than his brothers and I told him that it wasn't that he was smarter than them but that he is more open minded and therefore could learn more than those who are closed minded and don't want to learn about others beliefs and such.
I have always told my boys not to just believe and go by what a preacher says but to study it for themselves and see what they believe. None of my boys have ever gone to church regularly and I never pushed them to or not to. I felt that was a decision they have to make for themselves as to what they believe.
They know what I believe from my teaching them and talking to them but their own paths are up to them. I was force as a kid to attend the church and vowed never to do that to my kids. I told my sons that what ever religion they are comfortable with is fine with me as long as it is a positive one.
Sorry to have rambled so much. I will get off my soap box now. LOL
I'm so glad you joined. 3 boys..you are a brave soul :) I can hardly keep up with my one. I've only met your youngest one and he is's a doll. I bet your beating the girls off the other ones :) I started a serious study 4 years ago, so this is pretty much all my son has known. He does encounter some problems at school though. One child in his class consistantly tells him he is "going" down there cause he don't believe in his god...My son is like..what's down there...LOL I live in such a small town and tollerance is not in most people's vocabulary here. They just love me and my pentacle at Little Leauge :) I try to teach my son tolerance and respect although he has expressed an interest in turning that one boy into a toad...LOL actually he wanted to make him go away..which lead to an indepth ethics discussion with a 7y/o..whew that was fun...NOT It is terribly difficult to raise a kid, much less in a religion that is misunderstood....and doing it alone is impossible..they say it takes a village to raise a child and I'm inclined to believe it takes a continent. That is the main reason I started this group...Parents in Arkansas need a place to go to vent, brag and just get advice from others doing it too. If you find any articles, links to other groups feel free to post them..thanks again for joining. Blessed be, Tyg

Merry Meet,
Thank you for the invite. I think this is a wonderful idea for a
group. I get tired of groups that have such strict conversation rules
that it gets boring. Anyway, to the intro. My name is Steven. My
wife, son, and I live in Arkansas right outside of Helena. We have
been here for about 2 years. We will be moving to the Hot Springs
area this winter, though. I am a graphic designer and my wife is a
seamstress. Our son, Daniel, turned three in December. He has been
participating in our rituals for the last couple of months. So far,
his assigned duty is to call the quarters. :) We wrote some VERY
short lines for him to recite. He really enjoys it.
As far as Crystal and I, we have been studying druidry for several
years now. We both enjoy the (eclectic) spiritual path we are on and
look forward to raising our son to be open-minded and understanding
of all people. We realize that this might be difficult at times but
have agreed this is what we want as a family. I am glad that there
are plenty of people going through the same thing to help us along
the way. Goddess knows, we are just winging it. We also use the
book Circle Round for reference all the time.
Well, that is a little about us. Again, thank you for the invitation.
Many Blessings Under the Oak,
Steven

Greetings and Merry Meet All!
I am "Nakey" (lol - long story). My household in Van Buren County
is a balanced one with each, Earth, Air, Fire and Water signs. My
husband is the grounding force of Earth, my 10, soon to be 11 year
old daughter is our flowing Water baby, I am Fire and my soon to be
one year old son is our flighty Air.
I moved here from the east coast of our great country and find the
fanatical bent to fundamentalism here rather scary. Things were much
more liberal back in Merryland. My daughter has had some problems at
a non-religious private school in Little Rock. Thankfully the child
who seemed to perpetuate all the ugliness moved on to another
school. However, the administration at the school knows exactly who
and what I am and that I do not hesitate to fight for our rights to
do as we will with out harrassment or interference.
When they accused her of threatening another child (the problem one
that left last year) by teasing her about turning her into a toad, I
simply asked where were you when she and several other children were
telling my child that she was going to hell? Isn't that a threat too?
They agreed with me...and the ACLU. So, now we have no problems.
Recently, however, my daughter who is an independent, free spirit,
said she feels like an outcast sometimes due to her unwillingness
to "follow the crowd." Thus ensued a long discussion on the benefits
of being your own person.
Raising children is heartbreaking at times, but I wouldn't trade it
for anything. The book Circle Round is an excellent one. Just
finding the time seems to be our problem.
To the Green Ring family: Sorry we haven't posted much, T-Man's
father had quad-by-pass surgery recently and things have been rather
crazy. He made it through well and if he can beat the staph
infection in his leg where they harvested the veins from, we will be
home free.
Blessed be and thanks again for this wonderful forum.

I hate to state the oft repeated but...thanks for the invite! :) This is an excellent idea! I'm a (hopefully) soon to be single mom of 3 boys; 10, 4 and 10 months. I have a question for anyone in the LR area. Do you know anything about the Universalist church on Reservoir? Because my husband may drag us through court over custody, and being that I live in a major bible thumping county - Saline - I need to join a 'normal' church but I would still like to keep things as loose as possible in that regard. Ya know?
And, I also think that it would be good exposure for the kids in that the UU churches are multi-denominational. So, they can fairly pick and choose in what they believe. At least, I hope that is truly the way that they operate, we'll see. <shugging at the unknown>.
Anyway, I hope to get to know all of ya'll much better in the near future, and I welcome personal emails or yahoo IM if someone would like to chitchat. I can be found at all different times of the day and night - a lone spirit drifting the web...
I highly recommend Caroll Hicks or one of her
associates in North Little Rock......She is familiar
with Wicca and will fight for your custodial
rights.......She is pricey but she's good.....

Tygress,
Thank You for uploading this file.
I printed it out so that Gilbert may read it and when he decides to
let anyone know at school then he will have this for his teachers. I
fill that this will be very valueable for our kids at school. He has
wore his eye or Horus to school before and also wears his dragon one
at times to. He really likes dragons.
He has had kids at school say that the pentagram is satanic and he
has let them know that it's not true. Also he was asked by other
students if he believed in Witches and he told them yes and that they
don't worship the devil. He has kept a low profile cause I have
cautioned him to do so as I am not sure as how the school or the kids
would react. He has a friend that does know and don't care but if his
Parents new then they might not let them be friends and I would hate
for that to happen. Being a Parent isn't easy but a Pagan Parent
faces even more challenges it seems. I do hope that will change as
others learn that we are really about and not fear us. I think the
file on You Have a Pagan in your classroom will be a big help not
only for school but for anyone that is willing and open minded to
understand our children.
Goddess Bless,
Ginger

As far as custody goes. Wicca is a federally reconized religion and
it's illegal for them to bring it up in court. Sounds like you need
a good lawyer. Im not familar with Little Rock, I'm sure someone can
point you toward a pagan friendly lawyer in Little Rock.
I'm also on messanger most of the day under the same name tygeress_92

Sounds like you have a busy household with teenagers...I get along
well with teenagers but must admit not really looking forward to my
son getting there, 2 fire signs butting heads should be quite
interesting. Sounds like you had a wonderful and rich childhood
growing up. I feel I missed a lot with my grandmother passing when I
was 4, but her best friend "adopted" me so to speak and taught me a
lot of course being older now I wish I had paid more attention.
I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother, your family will be in our
thoughts.
Thank you for joining the site and we look forward to hearing from
you when time permits.
Blessed Be,

welcome, whooo a house full of boys, I bet that gets
interesting...bout as bad as Silver Crow and his all girl house ;)
WOW that is a postive experience, gives the rest of us hope. The
town I live in is big for Arkansas but we also have a Baptist
University here with a church on every corner that makes it a bit
tough, but I haven't had any thing burned in my yard yet *knocks on
wood*
Thanks again for joining and we look forward to learning from your
wisdome.

Wow what a big family..yes that counts..LOL My step mom came from a
large family and was the oldest so she had to take care of her
brothers and sisters, she always said she didn't have children cause
she had me and her neices and nephews.
Welcome to the group and feel free to post this site in any Northern
Arkansas Groups as well, it's not just for us central Arkansas

Hi Everyone!
Thanks for the invitation.
I have 3 young 'uns, 2 girls one that is almost 15 and one that will
be 13 on Friday and one young man who is 11.
I've never had any problems with school or in public with religion
and like the other post I'm very confused as to why God is being
discussed in school.
There is a very fine line between what public schools are allowed to
teach (religion as it relates to History) and Religion as it relates
to personal beliefs. I know my kids have had sections at school
that had covered world religions, and that's fine with me because I
cover the world religions at home. The only issue I've ever had was
they insist on refering to Norse "mythology" and Greek "mythology"
and Christian "History".
My husband and I and the kids belong to the North West Arkansas
Asatru kindred. I was raised in an very liberal household with a
California mom and a hillbilly dad. My mom taught us to question
everything and made wonderful books and knowledge available to us and
my dad has the patience of a mountain and taught us about the hills

What a wonderful Idea, I am Silver Crow I have the pleasure ( most of
the time) to be the Daddy for Three very beautiful pagan girls. It
will be a good thing to have a place to talk about being a pagan
parent here. I know the owner of This Group and want a kind and

Welcome to the group and you are very welcome.
Religion is a very personal thing and I choose to teach my son about
the Lord and Lady, the Sabbats and include him in circle and try to
answer any question he has..which can be rough cause he isn't your
typical 7y/o lol. He is working on his first altar now. Religion is
confusing at any age and in my personal opinion a small child has the
capability and innocence to understand as much if not more than
adults. I would suggest tell him what you feel comfortable with and
he will give you indications of how much is enough. (when their eyes
roll back and they get a bored look is a good indicator..LOL) Even
though We are out of the broom closet so to speak, I have told my son
about the need for secrecy, religion is a private thing and it's not
everyone's business and the fact is most don't agree with what we
believe in and humans have a tendacy to fear the unknown so it's best
to keep our beliefs private. I can highly reccomend the book, Circle
Round, raising children in the Goddess tradition it's by Starhawk and
the other authors escapes me right now, but It has wonderful stories
about the sabbats, crafts, recipes..etc
My question to you is, Does you son go to a private religious school?
If not I would want to know why religion is being taught in school
considering the whole seperation of church and state in the
constitution.

Hi all! :^) I'm 33 and live in NW Arkansas, I don't have children of
my hearth yet. But there are many of my heart. (several neice and
nephews, I have 7 brother and sisters:^) ) Hmm, does that count?
Anyway, thought I'd pop in and say "hey".

Merry Meet all
Thank you for the invite. I'm a mother of a 7 year old son, married
to a truck driver and live in south east arkansas. This is a great
idea for a group and i can't wait to see where it goes.
I have a question, maybe one of you could help me with. My son is
learning about God in school, i've been encouraging him toward the
Goddess too, but i haven't been pushing it. I was wondering does
anyone have any advice on how much i should tell him. My main reason
for not saying much is i don't want him to get confused, or say
something at school that may cause trouble, and i want him to come to
understand the Goddess on his own time too. I'm just so confused,
any advice?

I uploaded an article to the file section...Not sure why it didn't
post a notice on the message board...those darn fairy's at work
already..LOL
Anyway, it's a very good article that you can give to your child's
teacher explaining what Paganism is and isn't in a non threatening
way.
It can be copied and reposted elsewhere, just make sure the
copyright info remains intact.
Enjoy,
Tyg
Hi Tygress and thanks for inviting me!

I'm so glad you joined. 3 boys..you are a brave soul :) I can
hardly keep up with my one. I've only met your youngest one and he
is's a doll. I bet your beating the girls off the other ones :)
I started a serious study 4 years ago, so this is pretty much all my
son has known. He does encounter some problems at school though.
One child in his class consistantly tells him he is "going" down
there cause he don't believe in his god...My son is like..what's down
there...LOL I live in such a small town and tollerance is not in most
people's vocabulary here. They just love me and my pentacle at
Little Leauge :) I try to teach my son tolerance and respect
although he has expressed an interest in turning that one boy into a
toad...LOL actually he wanted to make him go away..which lead to an
indepth ethics discussion with a 7y/o..whew that was fun...NOT
It is terribly difficult to raise a kid, much less in a religion that
is misunderstood....and doing it alone is impossible..they say it
takes a village to raise a child and I'm inclined to believe it takes
a continent. That is the main reason I started this group...Parents
in Arkansas need a place to go to vent, brag and just get advice from
others doing it too.
If you find any articles, links to other groups feel free to post
them..thanks again for joining.
Blessed be,
Tyg

Merry Meet
Tygress,Thank you for the invite.
My name is Ginger and
I am a 36 yr old mother of 3 boys.
2 which are teens and one pre-teen.
My oldest will be 16 and my youngest will be 12 in March.
My middle child is 14.
My beliefs haven't seem to be an issue with My oldest. He may not
believe my way but if I am happy then it's okay with him. I went
through my middle son saying that my beliefs were devil worship and I
explained to him the difference. My youngest has embraced my beliefs
open heartly. He came to me wanting to learn more when I began my
studys seriously.
My boys never thought it odd that I tought them that what goes around
come around only more so. That animals have spirits just like us.
I began my study over the internet but it wasn't until last summer
than I seriously started studying Wicca.
It wasn't until I began my studies that I figured out that my beliefs
were Pagan, I just knew that I was different from the Christian
beliefs that were taught when I was younger and I always felt that
there was more to it.
I have a lot to learn and look forward to making friends and sharing
with other parents here.
Blessed Be
Ginger
I want to welcome everyone to Pagan Parenting in the Bible Belt. As
a mother of a 7 y/o boy, I know how hard it can be to teach Pagan
values and the ways of the Goddess in the South, espcially Arkansas!!
All Paths are welcome here. Please feel free to post information
about your traditions, links, recipes, rituals, crafts, photo's,
create polls, etc...
This group is for the parents!!! if your wee one is driving you nuts
and you need to vent or if they win a spelling bee and you need to
brag, this is your group, it is what you make it :)
In love and light,
Tygeress
