A Chrestomathy of Pain

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

Facing east across the bay I cry for those who died,

Seven fell down, like snow from the sky. Why?

Will I write a tome or poem?

Another chapter in a chrestomathy of pain,

my own shame?

Insulted by the rejection of my dour life's lessons, penned,

I climb the arcane mountain within, begging for

the rite that will change a pharaoh to a king,

and answer all of life's questions.

Tears, the symbols of my pain, flow

cleansing my heart and soul.

The truth has a gentle ring

and, I listen too, as I walk into the moon's glow.

Hi all in this most wonderfully exotic group ! Its
really been a pleasure interacting with you all, all
this while that I have known your mesmerizing
personalities.

I had some exhilarating piece of news to share with
you all. The longest poem on earth written by me (of
course with the blessings of Almighty Lord), is now
available for sale over the Internet, via some
publishers of mine. It measures a Herculean 1300
lines, 1100 stanzas, 7900 words, 38900 characters
(without spaces) !!! . It encompasses fathomless
aspects of love, life, and beauty in an astoundingly
unfathomable variety of forms.

Here is the link, where you can directly buy the
poem/book from :

http://www.dgpublishers.com/only_as_life.htm .

Hope you enjoy reading it, and thank you very much for
supporting the cause of my poetry, transpiring me
always to be the best !

God bless all,

Nikhil

I am free

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

Our hero, a man amidst the reeds.

A rare rose, crowned with a dozen purple violets.

Coached by inner voices, stoned by old shames, he refuses to let go of.

Upon love's shelf, he shivers in fear of the man he could be.

Life time after life time lived, dying minor deaths,

minuscule splashes into the light's pool,

remembering why he came.

Seeds of doubt, kernels of hopes

dance on a day to day basis

by moon light and star bright.

So this night, here by old Galveston Bay,

say good bye to the old me.

For tonight I am free.

A Flower in Winter

Withered like a flower in winter,
that part of me being splintered.
Beauty in life I no longer find,
buried in shattered parts of my mind.
Now life, has grown cold,
in what is left of my soul.
Where laughter and love should have been,
lives a pain I cannot mend.
Trust of a child was destroyed,
dreams of a girl, null and void.
From abuse, comes only pain,
stamped on a heart, again and again.
A spirit to be encouraged to grow,
beaten apart till it fell too low.
Body and mind totally trashed,
leaving trust completely smashed.
Hopes shattered `til they were waste,
leaving a soul, with pieces misplaced.
Anger, resentment, pain and fear,
twisted a life that once was so dear.

Grim Knowledge

by George "Papa" G

Papathepoet@...

The inner storm rages,

my personal space invaded by Caesar's elements;

blanketed with a calm knowledge of the centered sages,

of ages past..

The Soul within knows I have lived before,

sins, like phlegm drip off the spark of the eternal flame,

shielding me from the light;

and, knowing this is grim knowledge to be sure.

Greetings;
I am new to the group and wished to say hello. My wife and I are
Celtic Pagans living on South Western,Onatrio, Canada. I have a web
site at http://members.rogers.com/paganjourney outlines some of my
journey as a Pagan, information on Paganism and Spirituality, some of
my art.

The following I would like to share with you.

Slainte
Gaheris

Journey of a Pagan

As a child, the elders taught
The ways of their God on high
His heaven was what they sought
As their reward after life's last sigh

His Gospels, you must read
For you will find within
His words that you must heed
So in your life you will not sin

You must only obey us, the elders said
You must not follow what others say
You must not let them turn your head
For only we know the true way

As a youth, I became aware
Their Gospels spoke of love in all deeds
While they acted in hate, without care
To all not clinging to their creeds

If to their beliefs you did not accede
Live your life, as they demanded
Follow their way or be left in need
This they said their God commanded

This they learned from those before
Who in God's name, with sword and flame
Had sent to death all those they swore
To them not worthy to live in His name

As a man, I could not live my life
While in such a God believe
Who in His name allowed such strife
A God such as this I could not conceive

All, no matter origin or creed
They were equal in my mind
I tried to help those in need
Peace in my life I hoped to find

The Earth it's beauty I preserved
Was most at home in open sky
Believed a happy life was deserved
By all Earth's creatures, low or high

As I matured, I began to hear
Of those from time long finished
Who had traveled a path so clear
Earth, its gifts were never diminished

They spoke of one, some knew as Earth Mother
Come from the Cosmos to watch over them all
Called many names, one place to another
She nurtured the Earth from winter to fall

I learned of her caring, learned of Her love
Her help freely given, whatever the task
Whenever they called, She came from above
To walk in Her light, they just had to ask

As I grew older, I came to see
That I lived as those in ages past
In harmony with earth, sky and sea
My path as a Pagan was long ago cast

The Lady, as I call Her, imparts to me
In a Circle of Stones by the moon's gentle light
That my way as a Pagan was meant to be
As She grants me Her signs in the night

The path I now travel is very sure
I continue my journey, follow Her lore
Secure in Her embrace and Her love so pure
My life is content as never before

I am the light
More than a mere coincidence
I flow like a river
Gently carving
A path above the restless stones.

I am the light that
Contains all light and darkness
And all the beautiful expressions
Inbetween.

In the beginning there was only
Me and the darkness.

In the middle there is
And will be many facets of me.
At the end...
There is no end
Only/save beginnings again
Until I reveal all
My colors.

Greetings and Salutations Papa
Hope u like it.

Dear Mom

I remember our songs, what your hugs felt like.
I remember your love, tucking me in at night.
I remember smell, smile and laughter too.
But mostly, I remember you.

I remember that day, the panic I felt.
I remember the pain, on my heart there's a welt.
I remember the day you were put into the ground.
I remember I screamed, but out came no sound.

I remember I felt abandoned, alone.
I remember thinking; I can never come home.
I remember you loved me, unconditionally too.
But mostly, I remember you.

Dancing Witches Three

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

Karma's amerce paid in effect under a moon full,

by sisters with the same soul.

A circle cast. Candles burn, in the Texas breeze.

Caesar's petty intrigues ruined by the induction of prayers

to Gods known and unknown alike.

The nights rites, followed by heart right from the start.

Without the trappings of some Pagan book,

our heroines distill joy and truth, out of swarming

in the shadows, skyclad;

slacking shyness, they spin and swirl,

here by old Galveston bay,

here by the sea.

No drugs, no sex, no sin.

Jut a few girls. Free.

Just dancing witches three.

The best me?

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

An ordinary metaphor drips off my arrogant pen,

in vivid less, solemn proses.

Words of a sage's inner rose

whispered by the sea by a biker poet sage.

The truth pleads, a simple plea,

to be shared and understood.

A wealth of knowledge, in a grain of sand

shames the book in a drawer in some sin filled lido.

Written words failed to compare to a life lived,

or a child's smile by the bay.

Life not rites is where Magick truly lives.

So here under the pregnant moon,

I swoon for Gods unknown

and, strive for power to cone;

allowing myself to be free,

I will be the best me I can be.

Torn

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

Oh! My friends read and heed, as I inform

you of the storm within.

Transforming the Poet to a sage.

Torn by life's thorns, I bleed.

Drops of dreams, shed, running red along the lines of the shell's form.

Tattered and abused, I chose to go on.

Raped by Caesar's shape; performing like they said I should,

the cost small. Just my Soul.

Karma an old master and yet a slave to the spark within.

Judged by others for their fears, they call sins,

I ride among the living dead. A creed chosen by few.

Thru words and rhymes I attempt my escape

to Gods a plenty, I cry and pray,

here along old Galveston Bay.

ahead a life to be lived, deeds to be done,

my goals to exceed.

Better than my past! Agreed?

Mysterious footsteps

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

Secrets hidden among beliefs and lost

within dogma's arcane searches, lies the truth.

Runes thrown, talents shown, seeds sown

day to day we go on. Karma sings, our deeds do ring.

An enigmatic innkeeper tolls the bell,

calling us to listen to the enigma that is life.

Followed and surrounded by Angles,

enigmatic beings who wish to help us grow,

hearing our dreams,

guiding our goals,

found in stories and rhymes

leaving nothing but mysterious footsteps

in the sands of time.

I hate you.
I love you.

Secrets hidden among beliefs and lost

within dogma's arcane searches, lies the truth.

Runes thrown, talents shown, seeds sown

day to day we go on. Karma sings, our deeds do ring.

An enigmatic innkeeper tolls the bell,

calling us to listen to the enigma that is life.

Followed and surrounded by Angles,

enigmatic beings who wish to help us grow,

hearing our dreams,

guiding our goals,

found in stories and rhymes

leaving nothing but mysterious footsteps

in the sands of time.

The Dragon's Response

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

Surveying the future,

a half hearted prayer said, nothing but a feeble call.

Pondering my life, question by question,

I walked through the darkened hall,

the Dragon came from within,

stiff and sore from the trip,

a silver cord around his neck.

A patch work portmanteau by his side,

and a smile upon thin lizard lips.

I have come to intervene, old poet;

to save you from an early tomb,

not to judge or rip.

"Born to write and ride, not to cry" said the winged one.

"Stop, chasing dreams of gold and fly within"

whispered the last

as he poured Bourbon over ice.

Have a drink with me, Oh give it a try.

It is no sin to regret, but it is to forget the dreams of youth,

So pick up your pen and fantasize

write of dragons, and knights by the bay.

Lure demons into the light, and spin tales of spells in the night.

Be all you were born to be, said he.

An abnormal response to be sure.

The first bluebonnets

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

Rolling north out of Corpus, at a safe speed,

with a pocket filled with pennies

I headed home, nearing Refugio, I saw

a living timid spell, alive with cosmic vigor.

An ocean of purple, a sea of blue

sweeter than chocolate and a portal

of indictable words I now have to tell you true.

The first bluebonnets bloom, amid the saltgrasss reeds.

As is Texas law, I stopped and penned a simple

  verse to the Gods above,

a thanks for the years first Bluebonnets.

My Gift...
An Alter with standard gear.Rose petals of white, floating in a chalice of
blood, red. A Priestess-s monthly gift, to the cause...Chalk of white in a
circular form, upon a floor black.Words rightly said, with rhyme beat... Herbs
burning in a sack.No Fear in a round room, the air so sweet, filled with vanilla
and cinnamon...Dark ceiling painted with Florence paint of yellow and
bone...Stars, comets, and the Moon...Candles aflame, corners four
marked...Shadows dance on panelled walls.Elfs playing music, in the back of a
bikers head...Gnomes under his bed...A Pentagram, high point facing East.I sit
alone, facing the beast within.A warrior with balls...Bathed. Fasted. Skyclad
dressed, sword upon my back, white garter upon a scar cover thigh...Within me
Hell; Summerland; the past; the present; the future too...My madness burns, my
sadness turns; like the Alchemists fire...Lead to Gold; Peasant to Prince;
Carpenter to a God...The Soul, the pyre. Within me all... So Heaven is I have
been told...Words, memories, pain, and shame each foes; every one a
friend.Voices within, around me the seers call. Visions, pictures in my
head...Pain.Power does cone. Energy rises. The Truth comes closer now! The Gods
near, truly I ask, were they ever far?The day spent in a bar; time wasted. A
woman on my mind, my heart still in a bind. Bound no longer, Now, as charcoal
ignites oils and leaves. The Goddess is here, and I am sated...Today nothing to
ask, just Love to give... So I give of myself, to myself, knowledge and
love...Today I give the Goddess my pledge once again...
Today I am....

Inner imbibitions

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

A hearty wind blew clear my mind,

plucking memories of past lives exposed;

and, leaving me drunk with visions.

Voices echo within, like breezes through

a carpet of pines.

My sanity I seek to find.

After a lifetime of chasing Gold, orchards and fancy lace,

I am Midas alone; cold, and scanning the stars for Gods untold.

I write lines after lines of rhymes that ease my soul,

under a bone white moon,

feeding my inner imbibitions.

Poisoned palimpsest

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

A brother dressed in armor leather, black,

with hands of steel, holding a gentle pen,

I seek answers, in a confusing world.

Life's verse inked by Karma's pen,

a scribe's song noticed by the Gods.

Intact and in league with the rhythm of

Mother nature's plan, I pen a simple prayer;

a composition, void of metrical meter,

and devoid of many rimes.

Time after time I cry for those unable.

Quarreling with Caesar's notice that life is the search for gold,

I puzzle of stories of old. Warriors with causes bold,

upon horses complete with saddles and spears, or so I hear.

I attempt a poesy, something rosy,

in this time of strife.

Lost in the night, the news playing in the back ground,

nothing flows, within nothing grows,

The Muses gone; hiding in epics of soldiers past.

The Palimpsest poisoned.

Tears fall on my steel toed boots.

of their divinity and their grace, for what I see in him, I see in
myself, I see in all.
So Mote it Be

Amaranthine

My Lover like the wind between the trees on a warm summer
night. like sweet breath that flows, freely and carefree.
my lover on wings of the hawk carrying wisdom and grace and
joy, my lover like the first wisps of dawn in a field of wild wheat.
a mind full of wit and flashes of brilliance.
my lover east my lover air

My Lover like the warmth of the hearth, cozy warm cheeks and
blankets of healing love.My lover protecting, giving reassurance, I
feel safe. my lover bright Sun God lover. male and virile and alive.
My lover passion. Passion Lover. Hot heat fiery passion.
rising flames swell deeply stirring my soul my sprit my flames
rise. Smokey lusty fiery passion generates gently between
So Warm So Warm so Wonderfully Warm.
my lover south my lover fire.

My Lover like pools of soft flowing waters. Clean spilling water
cool waters swelling. washing splashes of healing waters on my
brow. my lover splashes my lover stirs
my lover swells within. his tides gently draw me out and into
and i become i embrace. my lover dancing droplets of dew
drenching the dandelions of my soul. Nurturing nectar...
dreamy starry night skies. my lover in the moon.
my lover west, my lover water.

My Lover like the strength of the mountains. my lover multi
faceted rough soft jagged rolling hills rolling over and over my
lover. steady beat heart beat my love.
Pulsing shifting changing becoming more. wise my lover, wise
shaman man, walking sticks and beating paths.
My lover dusty feet feeling mossy forrest floors.
My lover dance dance pound dance. My lover moves me moves
changes moves me.
My lover turquoise stones and rich dark eyes. soil eyes soil
hands hard movable soft earth toned body. My lover brown earthy
powdered brown.
my lover clay. ancient tree knowledge rooted deep,
my lover north, my lover earth.

Mine Alone

by George "Papa" G.

Papathepoet@...

A golconda of light lost right in the middle of the spark within,

trading the Soul's wine for Caesar's water.

So, a sage rides into sin.

Deep inside the pool, the source lies,

a wealth of reality we face day to day with blindness.

Time has no meaning, without life's little rhymes,

and, what is life without a little kindness?

Making choices regardless of the society's voices,

I am alone responsible. I am.

After inquiring of the depth of my own ego,

I realized that the reality I have created is mine.

Mine alone.

The Path

An overgrown pathway in a wooded glen,
I follow it.
Through brambles and thorns a clearing appears,
I enter it.
A weather worn stone standing in the wind,
I go to it.
A plot overgrown with weeds and decay,
I sit near it.
Why a sentinel in this forgotten place,
I ask of it.
The sun beating down I close my eyes,
I dream of it.
Of life and love of death and rebirth,
I learn of it.
All are connected through the light of life,
I finally get it.
I found this path I was meant to take,
I'll walk upon it.
I will learn the lessons it has to teach,
I'll treasure it.
When I come to the end and journey home,
I will remember it.
