COLLECTION: Gather the whole plant while in bloom.

ACTIONS: Anti-catarrhal, astringent, anti-inflammatory.

INDICATIONS: Eyebright is an excellent remedy for the problems of mucous membranes. The combination of anti-inflammatory and astringent properties make it relevant in many conditions. Used internally it is a powerul anti-catarrhal and thus may be used in nasal catarrh, sinusitis and other congestive states. It is best known for it's use in conditions of the eye, where it is helpful in acute or chronic inflammations, stinging and weeping eyes. Used as a compress and taken internally it is used in conjunctivitis and blepharitis.

COMBINATIONS: In catarrhal conditions it combines well with Golden Rod, Elder Flower or Golden Seal. As an eye lotion it mixes with Golden Seal and distilled Witch Hazel.

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE Infusion: 1 cup boiling water to 1 teasp. herb, drunk 3x a day.
Compress: 1 tsp in .5litre/1 pint water, boil for 10 minutes. Moisten a compress material into the warm liquid,wring out slightly, place over eyes. Repeat several times a day.
Tincture: 1-4ml of the tincture 3X a day.
