Hand of Fatimah Promotions present "Mario in the Barrio", a Hip-Hop
showcase and Video Game tournament, connecting the L.A. Underground
Hip-Hop scene to the world of Competitive Gaming.

LOS ANGELES, December 5th, 2007 - On December 21st, 2007, Hand of
Fatimah Promotions will host "Mario in the Barrio," a Hip-Hop showcase
and Mario Bros.-themed Video Game tournament, at Cancun Ole Restaurant
(5219 E. Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90022), starting at 8:00pm.

Hip-Hop culture and Video Games were both born out of the 1970s,
growing up together as American sub-cultures. Thus, it's only natural
that these two worlds would cross paths. Super Barrio Brothers, a
hip-hop duo consisting of DumbFounDead (emcee/rapper) and 8-Bit Bandit
(DJ/producer), are a great example of this cultural intersection.
Having recently released their first self-titled LP, the duo has
become a internet hit for their fresh combination of raw,
battle-tested underground lyrical prowess and beautifully orchestrated
musical production that can summon up powerful feelings of nostalgia
amongst anyone who's ever touched a joystick!

In celebration of this momentous occasion, Hand of Fatimah Promotions
is putting together a Hip-Hop Showcase featuring Super Barrio Brothers
(www.myspace.com/superbarriobrothers) and other Los Angeles Hip-Hop
artists performing video-game influenced music. The line-up includes:

In addition, Hand of Fatimah Promotions will also be hosting a "Mario
Pentathlon", featuring 5 classic games in which Mario is the main
character, which are:

Super Mario Bros. 1 (NES)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
Mario Kart: Double Dash (Nintendo Gamecube)
Super Smash Bros. Melee (Nintendo Gamecube)

With the Hip-Hop showcase and the Mario Pentathlon, one will be able
to witness the world of L.A. Hip-Hop collide with the world of
everyone's favorite pixilated hero, Mario.
