"Charter Schools are independent public schools that are free to be more innovative and have more flexibility and control to design curriculum, and hold teachers, administrators, parents and students accountable for improved student achievement. There are 63 public charter schools in Philadelphia educating over 32,000 children and 126 charter schools in Pennsylvania. Charters provide additional school choice options for Philadelphia families."
