NP, KBL declare alliance
The Nacionalista Party (NP) headed by Sen. Manny Villar and the oppositionist
Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) led by Ilocos Norte (2nd district) Rep. Ferdinand
"Bongbong" Marcos Jr. formally sealed their alliance at the historic Laurel
House in Mandaluyong City, boosting further their bailiwicks.
Signing the coalition agreement for NP, Villar said, "Our pressing challenge is
to jointly address the plague of poverty which has continued to grip majority of
our people through leadership transitions."
Rep. Bongbong Marcos, who is eyeing a senatorial seat in 2010, shared NP's core
advocacy against poverty, emphasizing that the poor must be empowered in all
aspects as foremost priority.
He added that the NP-KBL alliance was anchored on their trust and confidence in
the NP leader's integrity and leadership harnessed from the latter's own
perseverance against poverty.
The Congressman said of Villar, "He is a simple man of humble origins with a
grand vision for the country Not only does he understand the underprivileged,
he started life with so little, just like the ordinary Filipino. Ngunit naiahon
Meanwhile, Bongbong's sister and KBL secretary-general, former Rep. Imee Marcos,
stressed, "The coming polls should no longer involve those who passed away, but
should focus on the candidates themselves, according to their qualifications and
fitness for public office."
At the age of 23, Rep. Bongbong Marcos began his political career as Ilocos
Norte vice-governor in 1980. In 1992, he was elected representative of the
province's second district. Then he became Ilocos Norte governor in 1998,
serving for three consecutive terms. He noted that after many years, nothing has
been proven against the Marcos family. In 2007, he was elected back to the House
of Representatives, where he now serves as its Deputy Minority Leader. During
this term, one of the important pieces of legislation he authored was the
Philippine Archipelagic Baselines Law or Republic Act 9522.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts Major in Political Science, Philosophy, and
Economics degree from Oxford University; and Masters degree in Business
Administration from the Wharton School of Business.
Ilocos Norte is acknowledged as the bailiwick of the Marcos family. Mariano
Marcos, grandfather of Reps. Bongbong and Imee Marcos, was the province's first
known Marcos as former second district Congressman.
The KBL party, formerly the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan ng Nagkakaisang
Nacionalista, Liberal, at iba pa, started in 1978 as an umbrella coalition of
different political parties replacing the two-party system prominent before the
declaration of Martial Law. It was later on turned into a regular political
party in 1979 by President Ferdinand Marcos. In the 2007 elections, KBL fielded
candidates and declared itself an opposition political party. (30)
"ANG BAYAN HIGIT SA LAHAT"
Beyond What Divides Us, Towards A United Front against Poverty
Senator Manny Villar
Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen:
Let me begin by stressing how important the upcoming elections will be for our
nation. The decision that we will make in May 2010 will determine if our
countrymen will continue to wallow in poverty or if we can finally climb our way
out of the impoverishment that has afflicted our people for so long.
According to a survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) in
September 2009, 53% of Filipinos (more than 9 million Filipinos) have
experienced hunger. This is basically the same number of people who have
experienced hunger when the SWS conducted its first hunger survey in 1983. It is
clear therefore that for 26 years our fight against poverty has basically
failed. In addition, the National Statistical and Coordination Board reported
that poverty increased to 33% of the population in 2006. That translates to more
than 29 million Filipinos below the poverty line.
The Nacionalista Party believes that this is the single most defining issue of
the 2010 elections: the fight against poverty.
The 2010 election is also not just about changing the person sitting as
president. That is important, of course, given our dissatisfaction with the
current administration. But it has to mean more than that. Let us not commit the
mistake of voting simply to oust a person without understanding what the one who
will take its place offers. Madaling sumigaw ng pagbabago.Subalit kailangan
This is the reason why we, at the Nacionalista Party, believe that this coming
election should transform the way we conduct politics in our country. For too
long now, vested interests have benefitted by highlighting what divides us. It
is the classic divide-and-conquer strategy. They focus on individuals and what
separates them instead of focusing on what they can do together. This has to
change. What will make us great as a nation is our ability to acknowledge our
differences, what will make us fail is our failure to celebrate that diversity.
There is nothing wrong with having differences in religion, ethnicity, or even
political opinions; they are, in fact, vital in a healthy democracy. The problem
lies in the inability of some of us to go beyond those differences and focus on
the task at hand: to fight poverty.
It is in this spirit that I announce the alliance between Nacionalista Party and
Kilusan ng Bagong Lipunan KBL, headed by its President Representative Bongbong
Marcos!
I am sure that some will focus on the fact that he is the son of a former
President. That is not the reason why I think he is qualified.
Bongbong Marcos is an excellent leader because he has a sterling educational
background having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oxford University and a
Master of Business Administration from Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania.
I am sure that some will try to revive our nation's political past that has
divided the country. I will not do that. I'd rather look at his qualifications
as a public servant.
His political career started with his election to IlocosNorte's
vice-gubernatorial post in 1980. When he was then elected as governor, and later
as Representative of the 2nd district of Ilocos Norte in the Congress of the
Philippines, serving from 1992 until 1995.
He again was elected to the gubernatorial post in 1998, serving for three
consecutive terms ending in 2007.
His sterling record as a public servant and his commitment to fight poverty are
the two most important reasons why I think he will be a good legislator.
There is no guarantee that we will always agree. That is also true with every
single member and partner of the Nacionalista party. As a leader, I am not in
the habit of surrounding myself with those who will simply suck up and say yes
to my every word. I believe that differences in opinion contribute to sound
policy.
We can disagree, for as long as we are united in a common vision of providing
our people with food on their table, jobs that will give them decent lives and
education for their children's future.
Ladies and Gentlemen: I present to you Rep. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr!

Mam Lili,
This is a tinely message mam, people will now know whom to choose this coming election.
I believed Julius has a good reason to say that the votes for sir Manny Villar will be affected because of the photos shown in the internet.Let us counter punch the negative news by sending news about the the good deeds of Sir Manny Villar.
the forum has attracted a lot of criticism which I think would dissuade
some pro villar to vote him and give ammunition to
other people to dis-credit his good intentions on
visiting mannypacqauio.
Six
overseas Filipino worker (OFW) families were overjoyed upon receiving
the keys and title certificates to their own houses and lots from
Nacionalista Party (NP) President Manny Villar in the noontime show
âWowoweeâ hosted by Willie Revillame.
The recipients were
Sarah Felecio of Negros Occidental, Marnelli Recabar of Iloilo,
Rosemarie Jaca of Romblon, Judith Vicente representing Hazel Vicente
also from Romblon, Jennifer Sonbise representing Joanne Sonbise of
Parañaque, and Jolinald Chan representing Jenny Chan of Manila.
The
OFWs each received a fully furnished two-storey, two-bedroom townhouse
with a market price of P1.2 milllion, and located at Camella Seville
subdivision in Caloocan and at Camelle Lessandra in Molino, Bacoor,
Cavite.
Villar,
who was accompanied and assisted by his daughter Camille in giving the
keys and title certificates to the OFW families, told Revillame, âAko
In response, OFW Felecio told Villar, âMaraming, maraming salamat! Super!
lupa. At sa Wowowee po, marami kayong natutulungan.â
On
July 25, the homeowners joined as contestants in Wowoweeâs special
âWillie of Fortuneâ segment dedicated to breadwinner migrant workers.
While watching the program with his daughter Camille, Villar was
requested by Revillame to grant him a personal favor, which was to give
each contestant a house and lot since the former is known to care for
the welfare of OFWs. The breadwinners cried and hugged the NP president
when he agreed.
The Wowowee host told Villar, âHindi
Villar was hugged afterwards by the blessed OFW families. (XXX)
OFWSâ BACKGROUND
Recabar
took the role of provider to her siblings after their parentsâ death.
After graduating from high school, she started working to support her
remaining family while struggling to complete her two-year college
course in Iloilo. To add income, she even managed at one time to juggle
three jobs: Air Transportation Office staff from Monday to Friday, SM
saleslady from Saturday to Sunday, and part-time singer for hotels at
night.
Burdened
with making ends meet, the breadwinner left on July 7, 2004 for Japan,
where she worked as entertainer. After six months, she returned to the
country and engaged in several businesses. Currently, she is working as
a real estate agent.
Similarly,
Felecio, 41, went to Abu Dhabi on July 26, 2006 as domestic helper to
feed her large family. After less than three years of work, she was
illegally terminated by her female employer upon discovering her
employerâs husbandâs illicit affair with another woman. She then
returned to the country penniless.
With
her family in mind, she joined Wowowee to secure money for their needs.
While she did not win, she was more than happy when she realized that
she was a recipient of a house and lot from Villar.
Our YES! Event in Davao was a resounding success. About 4,000 new volunteers
were recruited from various schools in Davao. MBV was so warmly welcomed by the
students who eagerly listened to his inspirational speech on entrepreneurship.
Next YES! event will be in Zamboanga.

Crisis Center Set Up for Flood Victims
Villar-led
rescue effort continues; Over 1,300 victims so far rescued
Emergency and rescue teams deployed
by the Office of Senator Manny Villar as early as Saturday afternoon have so far
brought to safety over 1,300 victims of flooding caused by Typhoon Ondoy.
The victims were rescued from their
submerged homes, flooded streets and places of work and ferried by large trucks
to safe and dry areas.
From early afternoon of Saturday up
to 7AM Sunday, the Office of Senator Villar has sent out 26 large trucks
to flood-affected areas in Metro Manila and as far as Cainta and Antipolo
City. Early this moring, five more large trucks were deployed for
additional rescue operation.
The rescue teams were divided into
four groups, which penetrated the flooded areas of Antipolo, Pasig-Ortigas
Extension, Cainta and Marikina-Marcos Highwasy (Group A); Sampaloc, Sta.
Ana, Sta. Mesa in Manila, Araneta Ave, San Francisco Del Monte, Roxas District
in Quezon City, San Juan and Mandaluyong (Group B); Commonwealth, Tandang Sora,
Novaliches, Monumento, Camanava, San Mateo, Montalban in Rizal (Group C); and,
Baclaran and Sucat in Paranaque, Pasay, Las Pinas, Laguna and
Cavite (Group D)
The Villar rescue teams are
also trying to get choppers and more pump boats to reach more affected areas.
Some of the rescued typhoon victims
were brought to evacuation centers in SM Centerpoint, San Beda, UST, Central
Colleges of the Philippines and Jose Rizal University.
Food rations were also delivered to
the evacuation centers from a distribution network also set up by the
Office of Senator Villar at the height of the typhoon Saturday.
Villar said the next challenge is to
bring food and dry clothings fast to victims who were still stranded at the
rooftops of their homes since Saturday.
He said vehicles at their
distribution centers are also on standby to help deliver food rations and food
donations from government relief centers and other groups so that they could be
transported fast to affected areas.
âWeâre coordinating with other
government agencies and are making our large trucks and other vehicles available to help in
the delivery of food to flood victims,â Villar said.
The rescue and relief efforts of Office
of Senator Villar are being coordinated by a Typhoon Crisis Center activated
since Saturday, located at the Worldwide Corporate Center in Mandaluyong.
The crisis center could be reached
at the following hotline numbers: 0917-4226800, 0917-2414864 and 0927-675

No C-5 Road overprice, says BIR exec By Michael Lim Ubac Philippine Daily Inquirer First Posted 06:01:00 09/23/2009
MANILA, PhilippinesâThe camp of Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. Tuesday
demanded an apology from his detractors in the Senate after a revenue
official admitted before the chamber that there was no overpricing in
the C-5 road controversy.
Testifying at the resumption of the Committee of the Wholeâs ethics
inquiry into alleged conflict of interest on the part of Villar,
Carmelita R. Bacod, former Parañaque Revenue District Officer, belied
Sen. Jamby Madrigalâs accusation that there was an overprice in the
zonal valuation of the lots belonging to Villarâs real estate empire.
Bacod said she had pegged the zonal valuation of lots owned by Masaito Development Corp. at P30,000 per square meter.
âIf I were to issue the certification today, I will issue the same
certification on the same amount of P30,000 per square meter,â she said.
Basis for certification
âMy basis for issuing this certification of P30,000 is the variation
submitted to us by the City Assessorâs Office classifying the same
property as commercial and residential as to its actual use,â Bacod
explained.
Madrigalâs lawyer, Ernesto Francisco, had earlier claimed that
Villar might have falsified the zonal valuation to drastically jack up
the real estate value of the lots, which were sold to the government as
C-5âs right of way.
Residential lots in Parañaque have a zonal valuation of about P4,000 per square meter.
âThe reason why it is P30,000 per square meter is because it is not
fully developed. Some are commercial, that is why it is P30,000. It
(Maisato property) is valued at P30,000 per square meter because it is
along a commercial area,â she said.
She said the basis was BIRâs determination that the property is
located in Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque, which is a commercial area.
Apology in order
After the hearing, lawyer Adel Tamano, spokesperson of Villarâs
Nationalista Party, demanded an apology from Francisco for accusing the
senator of falsifying documents.
âI think it really is time to make an apology, as a gentleman,
Attorney Francisco should apologize to Adelfa (Properties), apologize
to Senator Villar, because last week he was claiming that the
certification was falsified. He is claiming that the BIR was bribed,
that the certification issued was false,â said Tamano.
Tamano noted that Francisco appeared stunned by Bacodâs testimony.
âThus, we can see political (undertones) in the ongoing (ethics)
investigation. It is really a waste of time. Instead of proving their
case, they were totally demolished by their own very witness,â said
Tamano.

Sa C5 road issue, Jamby at Ping kuryente na, sablay pa (Pilipino Star Ngayon) Updated September 23, 2009 12:00 AM
MANILA,
dito sina Lacson at Madrigal.
Me echo pa,â sabi pa ni Remulla.
Lumalabas

My sincerest congratulations and heartfelt thanks to our Team Manila and Bessie
Villamor's Team CDO. Edwin and Bob, both of you and your "girls" did a truly
fine job. I cannot thank you guys enough.
MBV was very pleased with the turnout at the Young Entrepreneurs' Summit (YES)
last August 22, 2009. The Saturday morning affair yielded an attendance of over
500 students, most of whom registered as volunteers for the Movement for Better
Values, Inc. (MBV, Inc.). It was a very successful affair. MBV also had lunch
with the YES organizers and a group of pastors representing some 25,000
evangelical churches in Mindanao.
Inspired by the success of the YES summit, we are now planning another YES
summit in Davao. Team Davao , are you ready? Arrangements are being made with
Ateneo de Davao, University of Mindanao and even U.P. If plans push through, we
may have a morning and afternoon affair with at least 2 schools in Davao. We
have yet to firm up the date with the staff of MBV, but we are eyeing either
October 6, 7 OR 8 depending on the availability of the good Senator.
We eagerly look forward to this affair. And hope our Team Davao is just as
excited as we all are. Many thanks again and congratulations to all of us!
This September 7, we have organized a dinner with MBV at the Laurel House.
Attending are some 300 new recruits and as arranged, all recruits will register
under the Movement for Better Values, Inc. or MBV, Inc. I know there are more
who would like to attend, but we can only accommodate 300 pax at the Laurel
House. Not to worry. As recruitment speeds up, we will organize more affairs.
On September 15, MBV will also be the Guest Speaker at the Federation of
Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. If his schedule will permit
it, we are also organizing a September 16 event at the Penafrancia event in
Bicol. (No confirmation on this yet)
In October (possibly the 8th, though this again is pending confirmation) is
another big YES event. This time, in Davao. Expected attendance may reach
5,000 students from the Ateneo de Davao, UP and University of Mindanao. Similar
YES events will be organized in Cebu, Zamboanga City and Dumaguete City. We
will keep you apprised through this site.
All systems go...........trusting you will busy yourselves with recruitment, and
counting on your support for the forthcoming events.

My sincerest congratulations and heartfelt thanks to our Team Manila and Bessie Villamor's Team CDO. Edwin and Bob, both of you and your "girls" did a truly fine job. I cannot thank you guys enough.
MBV was very pleased with the turnout at the Young Entrepreneurs' Summit (YES) last August 22, 2009. The Saturday morning affair yielded an attendance of over 500 students, most of whom registered as volunteers for the Movement for Better Values, Inc. (MBV, Inc.). It was a very successful affair. MBV also had lunch with the YES organizers and a group of pastors representing some 25,000 evangelical churches in Mindanao.
Inspired by the success of the YES summit, we are now planning another YES summit in Davao. Team Davao , are you ready? Arrangements are being made with Ateneo de Davao, University of Mindanao and even U.P. If plans push through, we may have a morning and afternoon affair with at least 2 schools in Davao. We have yet to firm
up the date with the staff of MBV, but we are eyeing either October 6, 7 OR 8 depending on the availability of the good Senator.
We eagerly look forward to this affair. And hope our Team Davao is just as excited as we all are. Many thanks again and congratulations to all of us!
