Sing for America and Help The Marines' Memorial

Members and Friends of Marines’ Memorial:

,

Many of you know Erich Stratmann who has performed at our Birthday Celebration each year for over a decade and who puts together the cabaret shows here at the Club.    Erich is organizing a "Sing For America" Chorus to perform in the Herbst Theater in our Veteran's Building next to the Opera House next April. The event will help  raise money for the Marines Memorial Theatre  (greatly in need of updating).

Erich is offering you, an opportunity to be a part of a Sing For America chorus.  The Chorus will include members of the San Francisco Opera Chorus and local church choirs.  If you sing with your own choir or barbershop group or community choir, you can handle the music........especially with the training you will receive from the conductors assembled for this event.  It sounds like fun all the way...and a great benefit to the Marines Memorial.

Click here and get a more complete explanation of the activity that will bring all those who love to sing and socialize, together.  Then, if you want to be part of this chorus, please send an email to SINGFORAMERICA@... and we will be in touch with you to arrange the details.

 Sincerely,

MajGen J. Michael Myatt  USMC (ret.)

Have Fun and Help The Marines' Memorial

We need your help in getting this original charitable effort off the ground – a push to raise funds for small performing arts organizations. We think it would be a great bit of fun for you as well. Please take a serious look at the following description…….

SingforAmerica Foundation - a non-profit, activity-based fundraising event, much the same as an Aids Walk, or Marathon for Leukemia with Teams in Training.

The DIFFERENCE: no running! JUST SINGING......... AND 50% of funds raised by choristers is given to the members/participants/singers as a check made out to THEIR choice of Charities. Their Voice - Their Choice! The other half of the raised dollars go to charities picked by the Board of Directors – to small performing arts organizations.

Details: We will produce a benefit concert at Herbst Theater on April 17th, 2012, with rehearsals in January, February and March - perhaps 10-12 such rehearsals. There is leeway as to attendance requirements.

However, the “Benefit Concert” does not raise the funds. Instead, for every participant we will create a page on our website to which, using Email, Facebook or Twitter, they will contact their friends across the nation with a gentle message about their own interest in this event, asking that they take a closer look via the link. .....to their........personal page.

On their personal page would be a photo of that person and a short message on how they view the charitable goals of both their own interest and that of the Sing For America Foundation...and how 100% of the donated funds will go to charity, 50% to the charity of the singer's choice.

The request to their friends would be that they make a donation, no more than is very comfortable, relative to their ability-to give....nothing to disrupt a friendship. There would also be an opportunity there to purchase a ticket to the Concert and a link to the description of the event. The potential is far greater than dollars raised by the concert.

We are serious about this and have $40,000 in start-up funding committed and a website under construction. Joehovey.com/sfa. BUT we need 100 singers to sign on by the end of November so we can spend the dollars necessary to get under way in mid-January.

Ian Robertson (SF Opera) will do a section of Opera Choruses, the rest will be easier music of a Broadway nature with soloists ....maybe Frank d'Ambrosio, etc. A show that will have the audience coming back each year. A show well within the abilities of current choral singers.

Can you join us in raising dollars for your own charity this way - erich@...

Thanks to those who attended the game and the few at the tailgate gathering earlier. A Navy victory today proved illusive.

San Jose State with their 27-24 victory over Navy Saturday also knocked out the Midshipmen's chance for a bowl game this year - the first time in eight years.

Navy's Kriss Proctor rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and threw for 90 yards.

"Their defense played hard," Proctor said. "There was a lot of bad execution on our part."

Navy scored on its first two possessions of the second half to take a 24-20 lead. Jon Teague kicked a 24-yard field goal midway through the third quarter and Proctor scored on a 2-yard run late in the period.

The go-ahead score was set up by a turnover. Jabaree Tuani tackled Faulkner, forcing a fumble. Jared Marks was right there to recover on the Spartans 43. Six plays later, the Midshipmen were in front.

Aaron Santiago's 21-yard run on a third-down play and Casey Bolena's 12-yard gain on a reverse were the key moments of the drive. The Midshipmen then lead at the end of the third quarter 24 - 20 only to loose it in the fourth quarter with the decisive Spartan touchdown.

The Midshipmen, who entered the game second in the nation in rushing offense, were limited to 254 yards on the ground, their third lowest total of the season.

Go Navy. Beat Army!

Members and Friends,

Times are tough for many but still we have much to be thankful for. Let us focus on the military and civilian support services especially our nation's mariners. I thought the Secretary of Veteran Affairs letter states it well.

Below his "News Release" is something I composed and sent in for publication to the Navy League. I don't think we will see it in Sea Power or the next Navy Leaguer but you never can tell.

Hey, all the best today and in the days to come. Hope to see several of you at one event or another ahead.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 22, 2011

A THANKSGIVING DAY MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY

Thanksgiving is an American tradition that predates the U.S. Constitution by more than 100 years. It is an observance that binds us as Americans no matter our race, religion, or culture. It is a time when we reflect on our many blessings and give thanks for the bounty in our lives.

As individuals, we are thankful for our families, friends, and loved ones. As a Nation, we celebrate the blessings of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, thanks to the men and women who protect and have protected our way of life. We thank them for their service and their sacrifice, and we wish them and their families a blessed Thanksgiving celebration.

In celebrating Thanksgiving this year, let us remember a Thanksgiving in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1621. One hundred and two colonists were facing a harsh winter and possible starvation. Some would die. Fortunately, Indians of the Wampanoag tribe extended a friendly hand that ensured the colonists survived their first winter in this new land, securing unto themselves the blessings of beginning a new Nation dedicated to the dignity and equality of all who live on this land.

It is a difficult time in this country. Yet, we all have much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. We are strong as individuals, as families, and as a community.

To all the members of the Department of Veterans Affairs, your families, and our Veterans and their families, I wish you the warmest of Thanksgiving wishes, and thank you all for this wonderful country we share. Happy Thanksgiving!

Eric K. Shinseki

Navy League Wreath does triple duty Veterans Day

The wreath shown above gets around. Veterans Day, Navy Leaguers Tal Norwood, President of the Sacramento Council, and Phelps Hobart processed with it and placed it adjacent to the Veterans Monument in front of the the Veterans Administration Medical Center Mather in Rancho Cordova, California. The occasion was a morning service honoring Veterans November 11th.
That afternoon, Phelps and Dan Sebby placed it near the California State Military Museum's Wall of Honor honoring all of California's military who have made the supreme sacrifice in the War on Terrorism. Dan is a member of the Sacramento Council and Curator of the museum in Sacramento.

The next day it saw duty at the Sacramento Council's annual Sea Power luncheon. Of special note at the luncheon was the commendation presented by the council to life member and WWII veteran LCDR. Ted Robinson. Ted has written an autobiography of his time on PT boats in the Solomon Islands. He is noted for saving fellow officer Lt. John F. Kennedy. Few from his boat squadron came back alive with Ted; all had Purple Hearts.

The wreath was assembled by Teddy Hobart, Phelps's wife. Phelps, a National Director, serves on a half dozen national committees. He also holds the distinction of chairing several Pacific Central Region committees. Region President Bonnie Potter has designated him the region's Senior Vice President. He is also a Pacific Southwest Region Vice President - Veteran Affairs. Among his duties is representing the Navy League at the California Department of Veteran Affairs conferences. Last but not least he presides over the growth and maritime industry involvement of the League's Pacific Merchant Marine Council.

Ahoy Members and Friends,

Once again the council made a contribution to:
 .

The funds were collected at our Annual Meeting Luncheon December 20, 2010. We intended to have collections at our luncheons throughout the year to increase the amout of our council contribution but all our luncheons were in cooperation with other groups where Toys for Tots was not an agenda item. So $75 in and today $75 out.

We will have a Toys for Tots collection at our joint dinner with the Marin County Council Thursday, December 8th (invitation with details coming your way) and our own Annual Meeting Luncheon Monday December 19 at Coast Guard Island, Alameda (invitation and details coming your way as well). Funds donated on the 19th will be contributed by the council in 2012.

Thanks for those of you who contributed last December. Many of you make direct contributions and that is great. The need continues year in and year out and we will do what we can. Thanks also for Karen Freitas, Vice President Youth Affairs, for her imaginative toy drum theme Toys for Tots campaign.

Heave Ho,

Dear Phelps and Members of the Navy League's Pacific Merchant Marine Council,

Thanksgiving is a special day for each of us to reflect and give thanks for our blessings in life. And most importantly — it's a time for us to give thanks for the people we hold most dear in our lives.

You and your council are among those people for whom I give thanks.

Because of you, a child still believes. Because of you, a child can still have hope. And because of you, a child will wake up smiling on Christmas morning.

For this, you have my deepest gratitude.

Honorable regional Officers and Council Presidents,

I had heard of the desire to have some combined Council meetings at a past PCR regional meeting.  If you haven't had an opportunity to do this, here is a chance
to mix it up with the Pacific Merchant Marine and Marin County Councils 08 DEC 2011 1800hrs pst.  An invitation and map are attached to this message, and the
R.S.V.P. phone number is also the local information bureau if you have any questions about getting to San Rafael.  Given the number of days between your receipt
of this notice and the meeting date, you may want to disseminate the invite by email.  If you need paper copies I can mail them to you pretty quickly. And, in the
case of some of you, I can deliver them to you.  Come on out to a good venue and a speaker with some insight into country of Afghanistan.

Best regards, and a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.

Port of Stockton Selects Savage to Operate M-580 Marine Highway Corridor

Project set to reduce I-580 traffic and improve safety and air quality

Salt Lake City, Utah – December 5, 2011 – The Port of Stockton, California has selected Savage Companies (Savage) to manage the M-580 Marine Highway Corridor between the Port of Stockton and Port of Oakland.  The Port of Stockton and Savage have entered into an agreement in which Savage will provide Container-on-Barge service including management, marketing, logistics and operating services for the project.  Savage will immediately begin marketing the M-580 Marine Highway to potential customers of the Container-on-Barge service.  Operations of the M-580 Marine Highway are scheduled to commence during the first quarter 2012.

In February 2010, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced the award of a $30 million TIGER grant for the Ports of Oakland, Stockton and West Sacramento to develop the infrastructure necessary to establish a container-on-barge service between the Central Valley and the San Francisco Bay area.  The Port of Stockton received $13 Million of the grant to support the purchase of two 140-ton mobile harbor cranes, and also to make the necessary improvements at the Port to support the project.  The Port of Stockton has purchased the two cranes with a scheduled delivery of January 2012.  In addition to the cranes, the Port has purchased two barges to be dedicated to the project. The barges are scheduled to undergo modifications in order to handle containers.  The barge modifications are scheduled to be completed early in the first quarter 2012.

Occupy Protesters Try to Close Oakland Port

March part of a coordinated West Coast effort.

    http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Occupy-Protesters-March-Toward-Oakland-Port-135436878.html

Oakland is once again at the heart of the Occupy movement, with coordinated port shutdowns happening from Anchorage to San Diego.

Hundreds of protesters were marching toward the port of Oakland Monday morning, with about a dozen trucks waiting to enter to deliver or pick up their cargo.

Police officers were at the scene to block the protesters from entering the port, near the corner of Seventh and Maritime streets.

Protesters were able to block at least two entrances to the Port of Oakland as part of a planned all-day West Coast port blockade.

As of 9 a.m. Monday, hundreds of protesters had blocked off the entrance to Berths 30-32, and Alameda County sheriff's deputies were keeping an eye on hundreds more who had gathered at the entrance to Berths 55-56.

Dozens of trucks were lined up outside both entrances as drivers waited to get into the port.

Mayor Jean Quan issued an open letter to protesters asking "What is the target of this action?" and citing that another shutdown could affect workers' wages as well as the chance to attract business in the future.

By noon Quan said demonstrations so far had been peaceful. She urged demonstrators to respect the rights of the 99-percent and keep the protests peaceful.

Oakland Police Chief Chief Howard Jordan said there were two protesters arrested at the Ports of America terminal. But there were no reports of violence.

There was one incident of vandalism, according to Jordan.

Omar Benjamin with the port said demonstrators had caused sporadic slow downs but the port was still operational.

But still about 150 longshoremen were sent home "with little to no pay," according to The San Francisco Chronicle.

Benjamin said he saw backups of trucks and while the port is in the middle of its peak season, it remains in full operations.

"We stress again:  it’s important to keep the Port open so that workers can make a living, the Port can continue creating jobs, and we all take steps to improve economic opportunities for the community and the region," the port's Communications Manager Robert Bernardo said in a statement.

Dan Siegel, an Oakland attorney and the former legal aide to Quan who resigned when police first raided the Occupy protests at Frank Ogawa Plaza, was part of the blockade Monday.

The Bay Citizen reported that the coordinated West Coast efforts are part of the long-standing labor dispute between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union workers and grain exporter EGT in Longview, Wash. The company's business with the port of Oakland are unclear.

The group is part of a larger effort to shut down ports across the West Coast. The Occupiers have added a makeshift raft in Lake Merritt to its high-profile protest.

FINAL CALL: Pacific Merchant Marine Council, NLUS, Luncheon Invitation, 1130 Monday, 19 December

Thank you to all who have made reservations! If you are not sure your reservation is recorded, reply to this message.

Procrastinators, want to attend this Christmas luncheon party (think networking) and you haven't made a reservation? Reply to this message pronto and be prepared to pay $20 at the door.

Without a reservation, your name will likely not be on the guest list Sam Sause will be presenting to his Coast Guard contact. That essentially means you can't drive past Coast Guard Island's guarded gate. Everyone attending needs a government picture identification card.

Oh, drivers be sure you have your drivers license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. This whole event, well at least getting through the gate, is a Homeland Security evolution. Be prepared.

We have scratched the guest of honor/speaker. But we have substituted something extra special... After the luncheon we will go over to see the USCG Cutter STRATTON (WMSL-) dockside. She is arriving at her homeport December 19! Sam is going to see if we can visit aboard.

Note nominations for council 2012 officers and directors are being accepted. Their election followed by their installation will take place on the 19th. This luncheon incorporates our "Annual Meeting."

Remember any of your guests who join the Navy League and our council, lunch is complementary. Also remember our incredible membership special, if financial assistance is needed, get three years for $75.

Talk to me about any council matters.

    Ahoy Members and Friends,

Wish I could have been there when three of the Conservancy's East Coast chapters met. Good to see Vice Admiral Al Herberger in the picture at the Washington DC gathering. Al is an honored member of the Conservancy's Advisory Council; he also serves on our Council's Advisory Board.

I have contacted the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco suggesting a Conservancy presentation in spring 2012. I think with enough publicity a large crowd could be expected. No news to date as to the Club's interest in hosting such a program. Saving the SS UNITED STATES needs to be a national effort and our council has the potential to be instrumental in raising interest on the West Coast.

As Susan Gibbs states, "2012 will be the SS United States' make or break year." We too, like the Washington DC Chapter, have the 60th anniversary of the ship's maiden voyage on our calendar.

There are several informative websites on the ship among them http://ss-united-states.net, http://www.ss-united-states.com and http://www.ssunitedstatesconservancy.org. Also http://youtube.com, Facebook and Twitter.

Message from Conservancy Board President Charles Anderson

    Dear Conservancy Members and Supporters:

On February 1, 2011, we defied all the skeptics and naysayers -- we took ownership of the SS United States, the greatest ocean liner ever built.

As this extremely eventful year draws to a close, I am in awe of the support the SS United States Conservancy has received from our members and friends, may of whom have gone the extra (nautical) mile. As a close member of our growing SS United States family, you have provided extraordinary financial support, introduced new people to the effort, donated precious time and professional expertise, and attended our special events.

Our effort to save the SS United States is about more than a ship -- it is about bringing people together to preserve an irreplaceable, inspiring piece of American history.

As part of our 2011 Annual Appeal, we are asking you, our dedicated friends, to make an extra generous donation to the SS United States Conservancy. Next year, which marks the 60th anniversary of the SS United States' maiden voyage, will be our "make-or-break" year.  (To donate, click on the link above or visit our website at www.ssusc.org.)

Like all non-profits, our organization depends on "connectors" - individuals who make introductions and have a large, diverse base of friends. Please be a connector for the Conservancy, and help us identify others who might appreciate learning more about our efforts.

The SS United States has touched the lives of countless Americans, and she will endure for future generations only if she continues to touch countless more.

Together, we can change history. Together, we can save the SS United States.

Thank you, once more, for all of your support!

    Sincerely,

    Charles Anderson

    President, Board of Directors

HolidayParties Conservancy Celebrates the Holidays in New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC!
As befits such an eventful year, Conservancy chapters in Philadelphia, New York and Washington DC celebrated the holidays with great aplomb!

On December 14, Philadelphia Chapter Chair David Peavy organized a holiday party for the SS United Staes Conservancy's Philadelphia Chapter at Champp's on South Columbus Boulevard, within sight of the great ship.  Bill Magee of ATC Associates presented Steven Ujifusa (Development Associate) and Margaret Stack (Curatorial Associate) with a beautiful framed cutaway of the ship that originally appeared in Time magazine in June 1952. The group discussed possible fundraising and media outreach ideas over beer and appetizers.  Although the SS United States may not remain in William Francis Gibbs's hometown, the Conservancy owes Philadelphia a deep debt of gratitude for producing the catalyst that saved the ship from the scrappers in 2010.  To learn how to get involved with the SS United States Conservancy's Philadelphia Chapter, please contact David Peavy at david.peavy@....

Bill McGee's presentation of Life Magazine's June 1952 cutaway diagram. From left: David Peavey, Bill McGee, Steve Ujifusa, Margaret Stack

The following night, December 15, the New York Chapter met at the Soldiers', Sailors', Marines', Coast Guard and Airmen's Club, on Lexington Avenue in New York City. The venue was cheerful and the spirit festive as the guests enjoyed their refreshments and conversed about the Big U.  A slideshow, composed of images of the ship, provided a constant sense of purpose.

Dan McSweeney addressed the gathering, congratulating all on the great progress made in 2011, and reminding the guests of the road still to travel in 2012. The Chapter responded enthusiastically and is looking forward to facing the coming year's challenges.

Crowning off the night was a raffle of donated items and memorabilia, the proceeds of which will help future Chapter happenings and gatherings, and benefit the ship.  For those in the New York area - stay alert!  More events will be coming in 2012.

The New York Chapter at the end of the night.

The Conservancy's Washington DC holiday celebration was a great success.  As guests sipped wine and champagne, Conservancy executive director Susan Gibbs welcomed attendees and emphasized that 2012 will be the SS United States' "make or break year."  Seth Levey, the Conservancy's Washington DC chapter chair, described the organization's emerging plans to honor the 60th anniversary of the maiden voyage and put out a call for support and involvement.

Conservancy executive director Susan Gibbs and DC chapter chair Seth Levey address guests at the Conservancy's DC holiday event.

The evening's highlights included sea tales from four SS United States' former officers and crewmembers: Alex Keisch, Joe Muchulsky, Jim Robertson and Al Herberger. Al, an honored member of the Conservancy's advisory council, described receiving orders from Commodore Harry Manning to sound the horn as the Big U entered New York Harbor after her triumphant maiden voyage in 1952.  Jim noted how two engineers kept a steady vigil monitoring the appearance of the smoke billowing from the ship's giant funnels.  Joe described sleeping on dirty laundry bags aboard "Times Square" in stormy weather.  Alex admitted that he has been reluctant to visit the ship in Philadelphia: In his mind, she eternally remains vibrant, gorgeous and in her prime.

Alex Keisch, Joe Muchulsky and Al Herberger share their memories of the SS United States being filmed by Detlev Konnerth from Germany's AgendaMedia.

Many thanks to all who made the attended the Conservancy's holiday celebrations!   Happy holidays to all and best wishes for the New Year!

UpdateRedevelopment   SS United States Redevelopment Project Update
Dear Friends of the SS United States,

On the SS United States Redevelopment Project front, things continue to progress.  Ship management, remediation, and business development work is growing appropriately.  We continue to expand contacts and intelligence in the all-important task of structuring a redevelopment deal for the ship and remain optimistic about our prospects.

New York is still the front-runner in these efforts, though we continue to view Miami as a potential site for the ship, should conditions warrant better terms and conditions there.

In the SS United States' long and complicated journey to 2012 -- the 60th anniversary of her maiden voyage -- there have been many people involved in ensuring she is not lost to future generations of Americans and international supporters.  We have much to be thankful for this Holiday Season and much work to accomplish to deliver the right news to all friends of the Big U.  Thank you for your continued interest and assistance.

If you'd like to share your ideas or get involved more meaningfully, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I saw three ships come sailing in
    On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas day in the morning.

And what was in those ships all three,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day?
And what was in those ships all three,
On Christmas day in the morning?

Our Savior Christ and His lady,
    On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
Our Savior Christ and His lady,
On Christmas day in the morning.

Pray whither sailed those ships all three,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day?
Pray whither sailed those ships all three,
On Christmas day in the morning?

    O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day,
    O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas day in the morning.

And all the bells on earth shall ring,
    On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And all the bells on earth shall ring,
On Christmas day in the morning.

And all the angels in Heav’n shall sing,
    On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And all the angels in Heav’n shall sing,
On Christmas day in the morning.

And all the souls on Earth shall sing,
    On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And all the souls on Earth shall sing,
On Christmas day in the morning.

Then let us all rejoice amain,
    On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
    Then let us rejoice amain,
On Christmas day in the morning.

A new museum is being established in San Francisco! The Bethlehem Shipyard Museum, http://www.bethlehemshipyardmuseum.org. The Pacific Merchant Marine Council is excited about this new endeavor and supports it.

William Perez, Executive Director, receives a check for support for the Bethlehem Shipyard Museum at our council gathering December 19.

Before the close of the luncheon meeting, William came aboard as a member and agreed to step-up to the position of council director! He will be our direct link to the museum.

Visit Pier 70 Website Homepage, http://www.pier70sf.org, for photos and history of the shipyard. The council and our friends will endeavor to take a tour of the facilities in early 2012. Maybe have lunch together.

The Pacific Merchant Marine Council was charted by the Navy League aboard the National Liberty Ship Memorial S.S. JEREMIAH O'BRIEN December 11, 2006 - 5 years ago this month! It was only a few months later the council "adopted" her. We have been providing support ever since. She is a maritime treasure and we call her our home.

Here Phelps presents Dennis Koller, the ship's Executive Director, a check at the council's December 19th gathering at Coast Guard Island. Dennis is one of several council directors.

Check out her Facebook page for photos and her primary website,
www.ssjeremiahobrien.org. Also Phil O'Mara, her Shipkeeper and council member, has been posting ship pictures in his Facebook albums, https://www.facebook.com/omaraph#!/profile.php?id=100000395035218.

She is scheduled to steam over to the BAE Shipyard, http://www.baesystems.com/ProductsServices/bae_prod_eis_shiprep_sanfran.html, Monday, January 23 for replacement of below the waterline hull plates and a thorough shaft inspection. Besides the crew and a few volunteers, there will be some members going along for the journey. If interested, we may be able to get you aboard.

Captain Frank V. Medeiros USMS (Ret.), RIP

Captain Frank Vincent Medeiros passed away peacefully on January 2, 2012 at his home in Fremont, California. He was 90 years old. Frank was born in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts and was one of ten children.

He was a decorated World War II Merchant Marine and Commander of the Hellenic Post 230 in San Francisco.

He was active in many veteran activities especially the Golden Gate Chapter of the American Merchant Marine Veterans. He was a charter member of the Navy League's Pacific Merchant Marine Council.

He loved the restored liberty ship SS JEREMIAH O'BRIEN and its rich World War II history. Frank served on a similar ship and had exciting stories he gladly shared.

Captain Frank's wife, Linda R. Medeiros preceded him in death. Frank is survived by his three children, Michael, David and Suzanne Smith. Frank enjoyed his six grandchildren; Mike, Amy, Nina, Eric, Jessica and Kassandra.

The Captain had a full life and will be missed. Donations to the SS JEREMIAH O'BRIEN, 1275 Columbus Ave Ste 300, San Francisco CA 94133-1315
or the Pacific Merchant Marine Council, PO Box 191403, Sacramento CA 95819-1403 in his memory are most appreciated.

It was Frank's wish that there be no church service upon his death. Instead, on the SS JEREMIAH O'BRIEN's Memorial Cruise scheduled for May 27 there will be a short service on the fantail and his ashes will be scattered at sea. As in years past, the Pacific Merchant Marine Council will have a wreath. For cruise information see:
    http://www.ssjeremiahobrien.org/EVENTS/cruises.htm.

Cards may be sent to family members via his son Michael, at 5498 Cleveland Pl, Fremont CA 94538-1010.

    Ahoy...

This is an incredible offer in my estimation for visiting family, friends, associates, offices, events and activities in Metro Sacramento.

The offer has a short fuse to take advantage of it. It must be purchased within two and a half days. Also note the offer is only good through March 31, 2012.
