The United States Naval Sea Cadets Corps Arkansas Division Band of the West
The band is believed to be the only band within the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Wherever performing rounds of applause follow and when they wrap up a gig the band can count on a standing ovation. Patriotic music is their specialty but big band classics are also in the repertoire.
The band was founded in 2005 under the direction of Conductor Michael Toschak for the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II and has been performing ever since. In 2010 the band affiliated with the Arkansas Division; in 2012 the band's leadership is exploring forming its own division; key to becoming a separate division is Navy League council sponsorship and financial support. Councils possibly interested should contact Mr. Toschak at toschak@.... Band rehearsals take place at the Veterans Hall, Redwood City, California - between San Francisco and San Jose.
They were a hit at the 70th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack at the USS Arizona Memorial in Honolulu. Besides performing at the national ceremony, they performed at numerous other engagements including a date with the Honolulu Council.
Most recently they performed January 28 at the Naval Sea Cadets Corps Pacific Central Region's 50th anniversary celebration at the Naval Post Graduate School Monterey.
