Rock & Gem Show & Field Trip to Ant Hill March 20th and 21st.2010

    Wow how time flies only 30 days left . This years grand prize raffle is a
Westing House 31 inch HD T.V.,2nd prize is $100.00 Cash and many more wounderful
prizes donated by our 30+ and growing vendors . YOU NEED NOT BE PRESENT TO WIN.
Only $1.00 per chance. The Kern County Shriners Club will be one of our food
vendors and their proceeds go directly to children in need. We also have
Authentic Indian Fry Bread and Shot Gun Race Team Cajon Food. There are many
free demonstrations through out the show including knapping,sphere making, wire
wrapping, cabbing, silver smithing and much more. The Buena Vista Museum will
also be represented with interesting fossil specimines from Kern County.We will
have a silent auction with many unique rocks and slabs, also a general store and
a spinning wheel with tons of lapidary specimines to be won for only $0.25 or
$0.50 a try. We will have a field trip to Ant Hill Sunday at noon for sharks
teeth and bone. The Golden Valley Prospectors will be teaching the fundemantles
of gold panning. The San Joaquin Valley Lapidary Society will have a booth with
a childrens mining pit , grab bags and a display of California rocks minerals
and fossls. Come join us for a fun filled weekend that the whole family will
enjoy. And best of all it's FREE! We have room for campers to join us for the
weekend. The inside is full as well as the covered patio. We still have room for
last minute vendors . There are several covered kyosks (coverd booth)12'x12' for
$50.00 also 12'x 12' space for pop up tents in the court yard  for $50.00 and
only a few tailgate 25'x 25'spaces for $75.00 and 25'x50' for $100.00.Tons of
unique items made from Mother Earth avalable for sale from our vendors. Rocks
,fossils, beads, lapidary supplies ,New &used.lapidary equipment, Jewelry,rough
material and finished gemstones just to mention a few. Come join us for a fun

What a Rock and Gem show is all about . Only 18 days left for our
9th Annual Rock and Gem Rendezvous
You and your family are invited to the 9th annual Rock and Gem Rendevous
scheduled for Saturday, March 20th and Sunday, March 21st  from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
. The event will take place at the Kern County Shrine Club, 700 South P
Street,Bakersfield Ca located across from the Kern County Fairgrounds.

California is home to a diverse resource of rocks, fossils and minerals.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with rock hounds, miners, vendors
from throughout the state and see a wide array of items. There will be the
opportunity to pan for gold, make arrowheads and learn about the many raw
materials found in California.
The Buena Vista Museum will host a large collection of fossils found  in and
around Bakersfield.  A field trip is scheduled to Ant Hill on Sunday beginning
at noon to hunt for shark teeth and other fossils.

The weather is going to be in the mid 70's . There are over 50 vendors this
year. For those wishing to join us, here are the directions to the Bakersfield
Rock and Gem Show.

Here are the Directions

   From  Culver City Take  the I-5 north, 99 north and then head east on 111
(Bakersfield-Tehachapi
Highway). Follow signs to the Kern County Fair Grounds.

   From L.A. take the 5 to the 405 to the 99 and exit Ming Avenue . Continue down
Ming Ave. until you reach P. Street
  and turn Left continue to Bell Terrace. We are on the corner of S. P and Bell
Terrace across from the Fair Grounds and across from Sequoia School.
    From Victorville take 395 Turn left on 58 Kramer Junction (Las Vegas, Baker
Barstow ) to Bakersfield take the Union Avenue Exit . Make a left turn on
Brundage left on Union to Bell Terrace turn Right to South P. Street and turn in
to the Shriners 700 South P.Street
  From Fresno , Sacremento Take 99 South to Ming Avenue East Take Ming Avenue to
South P. Street make a left past Fair Grounds to corner South P and Bell
Terrace.
  Reno / Lone Pine 14 South to 58 west to Bakersfield get off at Union Avenue
