Progressive Episcopalians of Pittsburgh (PEP), an affiliate of Via Media USA, is a group of lay and clergy dedicated to enhancing the health and unity of The Episcopal Church as the American expression of Anglicanism. We seek a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming Episcopal Church. Most PEP members reside in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and have special concerns for that diocese.
PEPchat exists to facilitate conversation among PEP members and friends. It is used to keep participants aware of developments in The Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion relevant to our mission, as well as to provide a forum for discussing those developments. It is also used to distribute announcements and, to a limited extent, to transact PEP business. PEPchat participants are mostly active or affiliate PEP members, although it is possible to subscribe to PEPchat without becoming a member if you are in sympathy with PEP goals.
A Moderator must approve subscription requests for this group. Participants are asked to confine posts to the purposes described above. Each group member is responsible for his or her posts and is requested to keep the discourse polite. Habitual violators of these rules will be unsubscribed by the Moderators. As a general rule, posts on PEPchat should not be redistributed without the permission of the poster. This does not apply to posts of press releases and the like.
