We welcome you to PDX Slingbabes - N.W. Babywearers.

PDX Slingbabes is a group dedicated to furthering the idea of babywearing throughout the Portland, Oregon metro area. We strive to teach new and experienced parents the skills needed to wear their children successfully and safely, and provide a place where our memebers can share their successes, ask questions, and network with parents who share the same parenting concerns.

Anyone who is interested in babywearing can join regardless of their chosen parenting style. We want this group to be a fun place where everyone can come and feel comfortable and not feel judged. Please respect the choices of all different types of families while at meetings, while discussing topics on this board and while at events.

"Babywearing" is the practice of holding a child in a cloth sling or carrier - using an item that you wear to keep your baby close and secure, while simultaneously keeping hands free for other important tasks. If you are interested in either receiving or giving help for parents and other caregivers who wish to choose and learn to use a ring sling, pouch, wrap, mei tai or other baby carrier, you are in the right place!
