THEY USED LINEN IMMERSED IN LINSEED OIL IF I REMEMBER RIGHT WHERE THE SKIN OVERLAPPED IN THE HULL, YOU COULD SEE IT ALONG THE SEAMS INSIDE THE BILGES IN THE 3'S AND 5'S I WAS IN.
