The Collect name of "PAMOJA" is "People's AIDS-Advocacy Movement of Japan and Africa", and the original meaning of "Pamoja" is "together" in Swahili, which is common language in East African region.
The purpose of PAMOJA is to share the information of Japanese governmental policy on global HIV/AIDS issues and international cooperation on the health fields.
Japan is the second largest economy, and it has enormous potentiality to contribute peoples and communities which affected by HIV/AIDs in developing countries. But now, the government's attitude is far from the side of these peoples.
Therefore, it is urgently needed to begin the advocacy work whose target is japanese government and related sectors to change their policy on global HIV/AIDS issues to the side of peoples who are affected with HIV/AIDS issues worldwide.
We, Africa Japan Forum of Japan, Kenya Network of Women with AIDS, and Treatment Action Network of South Africa, has launched this network "PAMOJA" to share the information of Japanese governmental HIV/AIDS policies and work together to change it. The network would also be useful to share the information of the schemes of japanese governmental fundings for the NGO/CBOs which work for community development in the health field.
