Description
LET'S PROMOTE OUR PACFO GROUP this year AND find MORE PACFOers!!! I know there must be more than a handful of us still left.
This group is devoted to retaining the history of the USASTRATCOM Pacific Field Office (PACFO) which was located on the Island of Okinawa. The purpose is to provide a forum for former PACFO members to stay in touch and share memories, photos, etc. Our PHOTO albums include pictures of communications activities and facilities all over our operational area in SE ASIA. You will find pictures of OKINAWA, VIET NAM, HAWAII, KOREA, TIAWAN, THAILAND and the PHILIPPINES as time goes on.
PACFO was created on Okinawa in late 1961 and consisted of 2 officers and a handful of TDY I&C personnel from the US Army Signal Engineering Agency, Arlington Hall Station, VA. The first PACFO Commander was Maj. Charles Cox. Future commanders were MAJ Gralvin, COL Sweeney, MAJ Clark, LTC Pomeroy, COL Walther and MAJ Taylor. PACFO was closed out in 1975 (?). Well over 300 personnel, both military and civilian, were assigned to the Office over the years. We were a very close-knit group who could work hard and long and party the same way! It was fun. Let this be A BLAST FROM THE PAST.
[ The PACFO group was first formed and run by Ray Ueno until his untimely death in 2004.]
