P31 - a Liturgical Dance Troupe - based out of Silver Spring/Burtonsville, MD, was created, to provide an outlet in which young ladies, in both Elementary and Middle School, can express their God-given talents in music, dance, and dance interpretation, in a positive atmosphere. In doing this, we are hoping to help these young ladies develop some of the characteristics that will help them become Proverbs 31 Woman - Godly Woman.
The group was officially created in August 2006 by three (3) teenage girls - Ericka, Alixandra and Delora - who attend Paint Branch High School (located in Burtonsville, MD). These studious young ladies indicated that they were tired of seeing their fellow female students not having a positive outlet for their creative abilities. They figured that one way to counteract all of the misogny that bombards our youth on a daily basis, on not only the cable but local television channels as well, would be to expose these same classmates to Liturgical, (also known as Praise Worship) Dancing.
This group was created to keep not only our Student Members, and their Parents/Guardians, but also our supporters in the community, 'in the loop' of the various activies/events that will be taking place, as well as provide a one-stop location for any and all pertinent information relating to the group.
