Greetings to the list!

It has been brought to my attention that in my last missive I completely forgot to put the time that the ball begins an ends. So I am here to remind you that THIS SATURDAY, November 17th, the day before Toys for Tots, will be Blaiddwyn's masked ball. The doors to ball will open at 9:30 PM and dancing will begin promptly. The ball will end at 11:30 PM.
There is no site fee, but we will be collecting donations for Toys for Tots.

Another reminder that TONIGHT is the last dance practice before the ball and we will be reviewing all of the dances for Saturday. Practice will tonight at the UNM Student Union Building and will begin at 7PM.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me off-list at kaitlyn.arndt90@...

YIS,
Lady Caltuna Turcitul

Subject: [blaiddwyn] Blaiddwyn Masked Ball 2012 - Forests of the Knowne World

Greetings unto the fine and fair populace of al-Barran!

The college of Blaiddwyn once again invites you to our den to dance the night away at our annual Masked Ball! This year's ball takes us deep into the Forests of the Knowne World, where the pages of the beastiary live and thrive. As in past years there will be a hand kissing contest and a mask contest. In addition to the titles of Cock and Rose of the ball (awarded to hand-kissing winners), winners will be crowned in the categories of Best Theme (Forests of the Knowne World), Best Period (Self-explanatory), and Best Blaiddwyn (red and white or otherwise Blaiddwyn themed) for masks. From those three categories, a "best overall" will be crowned.

There is NO site fee for this event, but we are collecting donations for Toys for Tots. This will be one of your last chances to get them in before the Toys for Tots event on Sunday, so come prepared! The doors to the ball will open at 9:30PM and the doors will close at 11:30PM. The ball will be held in the UNM SUB ballrooms and dances will NOT BE TAUGHT due to time constraints. The dances will be called, meaning that the dance mistresses will say (loudly) the steps to the dance while we are taking them.

If this turns you off, don't fret! There is still some time to learn or refresh your dance chops. This upcoming Monday, November 12, is the final Blaiddwyn dance practice before the ball. Our dance mistresses will be going over EVERY DANCE that will be danced at the ball in order. So come along to UNM campus at 7PM and dance it out with us.

Please pass along the word and come and celebrate an early kick-off to Toys for Tots with the College. If last year's Cock and Rose of the ball could please contact me off-list (kaitlyn.arndt90@...) I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you, and I'll see you in the forest.

YIS,
Lady Caltuna Turcitul (Caltsuna of Blaiddwyn)

Greetings unto the list!

My name is THL Elena Isabella de Glastonbury and I am trying to start a Northern
Outlands dance practice (once a month on a Saturday that doesn't interfere with
an event). If you are interested, or know of anyone interested, please go to the
facebook page and/or come to the Longmont Library on March 30th from 1-4pm.

There are quite a few people looking to carpool, just post if you need a ride or
can give one!

Thank you!!

Greetings to the populace of the Outlands,

I hope everyone had a wonderful time at Kingdom Arts & Sciences.  It was a busy but fulfilling day.  There were many amazing artisans who competed and brought their beautiful works.  It was an extremely close competition.  Everyone who entered had obviously put time and heart into their entries and they were all awesome.  I will soon  post pictures of some of the entries to the Kingdom Arts and Sciences website so those of you who were unable to attend can view some of the great items that were at the competition.

At the end of the day after a lot of hard work from all of the judges  who conversed with a roomfull of creative artisans, and from the autocrat and her team, we are happy to announce we have a new Champion.

The Champion for this year’s competition was THL Geoffrey fitz Roberts.  Master Omar Mohammud Mirazazdeh placed second in the competiton and Lord Wilhelm Meis placed third.  All three had amazing entries.  I also want to thank THL Mirabel de Malmesberie for serving as our champion the past year.

Due to time constraints, I was unable to announce the division winners because there was not time to get the calculations done before the close of site.  Below are the winners of each division.  Congratulations to each of you. I know we all enjoyed seeing your entries and I am so glad you were each in the competition and I look forward to seeing everyone again next year.  This will also be posted in the Kingdom newsletter.

I also would like to thank my extremely busy and hard working judging staff who invested their own time, energy and love of the arts to make this competition possible.  Most had a very large judging load and they were all troopers.  I also want to especially thank the logistics team that helped organize the sheets and worked on the calculations at the end of the day.  Mistress Maimuna, THL Marc Antoine de Larue, and THL Elise porteresse d'yaue, your help with all the paperwork was invaluable and I appreciate it more than I can say.   It was very hectic and we had much to do to establish the champion and second and third place before court ended.  Thank also to Mistress Anna McTaggart the Kingdom Scribe and THL Elise porteresse d'yaue for getting the scrolls ready to make their grand entrance into court.

Below is the list of judges who volunteered.  Thank you again. This event cannot happen without you and I know that there is a huge commitment of time and energy that you all gave.  I am so glad you were here for the artisans and I know they were too.

I would also like to give thanks to HE Gilliana Leigh Gallwey for assisting with our needs throughout the morning especially our electronic ones. Thanks also to the Crown for their support of both this event and the Arts and Sciences in the Outlands. You continue to inspire us.

Greetings!

For all those who are wondering what to do since you are not able to make it to
Coronation on May 11th, I have a solution! Please join us on May 11th from 1-4pm
at Sandstone Ranch Park in Longmont for Medieval Court Dancing. Look for us in
the southeastern corner (conveniently the highest corner) of the park. Feel free
to wear garb, or not, as there is always a mix of both.

YIS,
Elena

Greetings unto the dance community of Pennsic and beyond!

Last year, Lady Sonya Flickr (Patches) came forward with a fantastic idea
to display in the Pennsic Dance Pavilion: a map of the Known World with all
regular local dance practices marked on it! A group of us have already
been working toward this goal, but now I am seeking your help. We have
come up with a list of the known dance practices, based upon our own
knowledge and the information available on local groups' websites, but I
don't want to miss any. So, if you have a practice as part of your local
group or you know where there is one nearby, please go check the list to
see if its on it:

If your practice is missing from this list, please contact me with the
necessary infroamtion at pennsic.eurodance at gmail.com.

Thanks for everyone's help!
Margaret
