He is Risen! Happy Resurrection Day!
1 Corinthians 15:4-6, 12-19,
Revelation 21:27, John 14:19,
Acts 1:3
.....to those that have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb of God
whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life...Revelation 21:27
Today is the day that we celebrate what Jesus did for us, not only that He died, paying for our sins, but that on the third day He was Resurrected and is ALIVE. If that had not occurred, there would be no credence to our faith. (See 1 Corinthians 15:12-19)
But He did rise from the dead and over 500 witnesses that could have been asked at any time, being they were still alive during the Apostles' ministry as they were spreading the Good news!
(1 Corinthians 15:4-6)
Jesus appeared to over 500 people for a period of 40 days after His Resurrection before His ascension to heaven. (Acts 1:3)
And He said, "Because I live, you will live also." Praise the Lord!
(John 14:19)
How come I didn't wish you a happy "Easter"?
Well, a few years ago, I learned the History of the Word 'Easter' and it had nothing to do with Jesus or the Resurrection of Christ, but everything to do with rabbits and eggs! (symbols of fertility)
Yes! Easter was named so after the Pagan "goddess of fertility" Oestra. Traditionally, pagans would decorate eggs with lavish decoration (I picture something like a Faberge` egg) and give them to newly wedded couples wishing them a fertile marriage by the power of the Pagan "fertility goddess" Oestra.
So, after learning that tidbit, I vowed I would never call the day of my Lord's Resurrection, "Easter" any more and would take the opportunity to tell others, who like me didn't know.
I hope that like me, now that you know, you will vow also to never call Resurrection Day, "Easter" again.
God bless you and Happy Resurrection Day! Glory to the Lamb of God!
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Valerie Chesnut
