Why Art Thou Cast Down Oh My Soul?
Psalm 43:5
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me?hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
As I read this devotional this morning (attached below) a thought came to mind regarding how crafty the enemy is. Do you know that a cow could break through the lightweight fences that ranchers use to keep them corralled with little to no effort at all? But yet, why don't they?
Simple. They don't know they have the power to do so, so they remained "trapped" while the whole time possessing the ability to escape to freedom. It made me wonder to myself, do suffering Christian know that Jesus IS their all in all? Do they really know that they possess the power right now, through Christ, all day, every day to escape to freedom from the oppression of the devil? Isn't a Christian who suffers consistently from depression, hysteria, fear filled heart aka anxiety, oxymorons? This should not be so! It is a lie of the enemy in full blown manifestation!
Why is the enemy getting away with this? Why is he controlling the minds and the thought processes of those who now have the mind of Christ?! There can only be one reason! He is getting away with it because like the cows, they do not know that they possess the power to escape to freedom!
I don't care whether the oppression of the devil wants to guise itself as a chemical imbalance or whatever other label is slapped onto the symptom of the hour!
It really comes down to one thing and one thing only. Whose report are we going to believe? Are we going to look at the circumstances and say,"this is reality" and eat from the table of our enemy? Or are we going to walk by faith in the knowledge of God and let God be true and everyman a liar until we see the unseen manifested?
What we believe in our hearts WILL manifest itself in our lives, so again it really comes down to simple child like faith, not big faith, but simple faith that says, "whose report am I going to believe?"

Is God all powerful? (Omnipotent) or not?
Is He Lord of ALL? Must every knee bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord or not?
Is God all powerful? (Omnipotent) or not?
Is He Lord of ALL? Must every knee bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord or not?
Let us magnify the Lord and give our souls the rest they need. Praise the Lord for who He is and remind your soul that all of who He is, has now been given unto you through Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit! He who is IN YOU is stronger than he that is in the world!
The enemy cannot remain in the presence of someone who is praising the Lord! It is like torture to him. So, we can be the tormented of the devil, or we can praise God and torment the devil. But it is US who must make the choice. We either accept the knowledge of the truth as the truth that it is, that we have been given by God, the power to be made free and knock the enemy OFF the throne of God in our lives that rightly belongs to the God we serve,or we believe like the cows that the light weight little fence is going to keep us trapped forever, and allow satan the power to rule and reign on the throne of our lives.

Choose this day whose slave will you be? Which master will you serve?

January 8, 2009 Morning Devotional- Charles H. Spurgeon
Christian!here is all thou canst require. To make thee happy thou wantestsomething that shall satisfy thee; and is not this enough? If thoucanst pour this promise into thy cup, wilt thou not say, with David,"My cup runneth over; I have more than heart can wish"? When this isfulfilled, "I am thy God," art thou not possessor of all things? Desireis insatiable as death, but He who filleth all in all can fill it. Thecapacity of our wishes who can measure? but the immeasurable wealth ofGod can more than overflow it. I ask thee if thou art not complete whenGod is thine? Dost thou want anything but God? Is not Hisall-sufficiency enough to satisfy thee if all else should fail? Butthou wantest more than quiet satisfaction; thou desirest rapturousdelight. Come, soul, here is music fit for heaven in this thy portion, for God is the Maker of Heaven. Not all the music blown from sweetinstruments, or drawn from living strings, can yield such melody asthis sweet promise, "I will be their God." Here is a deep sea of bliss,a shoreless ocean of delight; come, bathe thy spirit in it; swim anage, and thou shalt find no shore; dive throughout eternity, and thoushalt find no bottom. "I will be their God." If this do not make thineeyes sparkle, and thy heart beat high with bliss, then assuredly thysoul is not in a healthy state. But thou wantest more than presentdelights–thou cravest something concerning which thou mayest exercisehope; and what more canst thou hope for than the fulfillment of thisgreat promise, "I will be their God"? This is the masterpiece of allthe promises; its enjoyment makes a heaven below, and will make aheaven above. Dwell in the light of thy Lord, and let thy soul bealways ravished with His love. Get out the marrow and fatness whichthis portion yields thee. Live up to thy privileges, and rejoice withunspeakable joy.
