Re: + OrthodoxWest Group + Introduction

Dear George,

I've never been a pastor, but certainly do not miss liturgical functions.  In my previous parish, I served in the altar on a regular basis.  In the current, a lot of the parishoners think of me as the priest's assistant, sometimes introducing me as such.  I am our typical chanter for Vespers and Orthros, fill in at Liturgy when there is no choir and the choir director is not there.  If I'm not chanting at Liturgy, I'm in the altar.  A lot of times, I'm at baptisms and funerals, either chanting or serving as a server.

I am in the Greek Archdiocese, so our services are all Eastern Rite.  My interest in the Western Rite is entirely personal.

In Christ,
Justin

Glory to Jesus Christ now and forever. Amen
Dear Justin,
I too am a convert and have been ordained a Reader. There are enough dedicated people in the parish that I am not called upon for any liturgical functions. In previous parishes I regularly helped in a variety of ways—which I, having been a pastor—miss. In addition to holding an M.Div I’ve degrees in English and art.

As an Anglo-Catholic I never met a fellow member of the devotional groups I joined. I never had a chance to visit a parish like St. Clement’s Episcopal in Philadelphia (suggest you check their web site). Repeated attempts to make contact with the WR inevitably fail . I live in SW PA and while there are a number of Orthodox parishes most are marginally attended and appear comatose.
. If you would like to see my art site or the OLW you can google or I will supply the addresses. Let me know. Of what jursidciction are you a member, is it WR and does your parish have a web site? Yours in Christ, +George
