Lest I forget, I am going to go ahead and post my introduction. My name is Justin Griffing and I live in the New England region of the US, though I am originally from the Southern US. Attempts at geneaological research have shown that my father's family came to the colonies from Wales in the mid 17th century or so. My mother's family is from England, though I've never been able to quite pinpoint when the migration took place. I am a convert to Orthodoxy, having been received into the OCA about eight years ago with a catechumentate of a year prior to that and a year or two of research into Orthodoxy before that. I was raised Southern Baptist and most of my family remains Baptist or Methodist. My family, thanks be to God, has always been supportive of my conversion. After moving to New England, I have attended a parish of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in the Metropolis of Boston, under his Eminence, Metropolitan METHODIOS of Boston. I was tonsured a reader at his hand. I have been married to a wonderful woman for almost three and a half years now. I met her through her father, who is the priest of the parish here, during my conversion to Orthodoxy after meeting him on one of the online lists.
My interest in the Orthodox West group lies in the fact that I am an English major with a focus on Anglo-Saxon literature and so the Orthodox heritage of England is of great interest to me. Beyond this, I also find it beneficial to be in contact with other Orthodox Christians living in the West to see how others live out our faith in a contradictory, and sometimes outright hostile, environment.
In Christ,
Justin
