OrthodoxWest Discussion Group List

is for the mutual and respectful exchange of the Orthodox Christian Experience as one living in the Western World. This would include the Eastern rite as well as the Western rite.

The purpose of the OrthodoxWest List is to provides: (1.) a network environment for persons who are in fact Western and Orthodox Christians;
(2.) an informational environment in which the free exchange of thoughts, queries, ideas and experiences are shared between List members as to “The Orthodox Experience in the Western Worlds”.
(3.) it is a place to learn about the Western Rite expression of Traditional True Orthodox Christianity.

Members tend to be Orthodox Christians of Western European extraction (or other ethnicity living in the West) with a personal propensity for Traditional Orthodoxy. The List membership is open to all persons who express a sincere interest in the Traditional Western (rite) Orthodox Church Her Faith.

Traditional refers to Orthodox Christians who strive/maintain a fidelity to the Patristic Mind, Apostolic Teachings that are part of the genuine catholic consciousness of the Mystical Body of Christ (The Church). Examples include, condemning modernism, ecumenism, papism within the Church, contemporary innovationism, and viewing the incremental acceptance of "mainline" Christianity as contra to the Orthodox Faithful and harmful to the Church (in other words, we are against the distinctives of World Orthodoxy).
