Description

Orthodox-Lutheran_Dialogue is a forum for discussion between representatives of the Orthodox and Confessional Lutheran Christian traditions.

Orthodoxy refers to the Christian traditions descending from Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria, Byzantium, and from the evangelisation of Russia and Eastern Europe. The Orthodox Church, which understands herself to be the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, consists of a number of bodies, generally distinguished by ethnicity (Greek, Russian, Syrian, etc.), although their ranks are being greatly enhanced by an increase in converts throughout the world, for the Orthodox Faith is more properly Universal than simply Eastern. An introduction to Orthodox Christianity can be found at the Serbian Diocese of Raska and Prizren, as can a summary of Orthodox Doctrine.

Confessional Lutheranism refers to those Christian groups that adhere to the Book of Concord. An introduction to the Lutheran Faith can be found at the Book of Concord Website.

This is meant to be a bridge-building forum, and it is expected that discussions be kept civilised. Particularly disallowed is telling other people what they believe. Treating each other with fairness, honesty and charity, crowned with humility, should always be our aim.

All prospective participants are subject to approval before being added to the forum. Additionally, it is required that all members post an introduction of themselves to the list, including real name and religious affiliation. Members of other confessions are not unwelcome, but it is to be clearly understood that this forum exists for dialogue between Eastern Orthodox and Confessional Lutheran Christians.

Re: Fwd: St. Eutychius and his opposition to heresy
Hi, Origen also believed in rebirth or reincarnation strangely. He was a Platonist as much as a Christian, just as Augustine was a NeoPlatonist Christian. The
