Out checking the Gulls on Sth Ron this am, nothing scarce, but loads of young
Common Gulls, the most I have seen in five years.
They have had a good breeding season by the looks of it.

Two more entries for the Next New Bird
Paul Hollinrake - White tailed Plover, Black Duck and Cattle Egret
Andy Mitchell - Cattle Egret, Penduline Tit and Savis Warbler
More entries PLEASE!!!

A subtle reminder about subscriptions for the Rare Bird Alert service....

A Pectoral Sandpiper was on North Ron a couple of days ago.

Cheers,

Paul

Having been left 'stranded at the altar' (alias Houton Pier) I did go to have a loo for the Black Brant but could find no sign. I estimated 1300 Barnacles and...

Back from my travels and rather a late reply to the post by Paul on Little Stint records. He says "A record of two on 8th March 1998 on Egilsay has been left...

Andy - thought the Little Stint record was either erroneous, or too far away from the normal pattern of Spring Migration to be of any real relevance. Mammals -...

Just to add to your common gull suggestion - on most of the sites I've vsited this year, chicks have fledged. Typically, on Gairsay, a colony of 40 had 15 on...
