Orange County Radical Unschoolers purpose is to connect with other unschooling families in Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. This group is intended to support other unschooling families and build community also to provide a place where local unschoolers can meet and get to know one another and arrange get-togethers. Group members are welcome to post fieldtrips and other activities they would like others to join-in on. It could be as simple as posting that one family is going to a certain place and would anyone like to come along or it could be an event that requires pre-payment/planning.
We are open to all types of families. We do not discuss curriculum, testing or any schooling methods. We live life and trust our children to be who they want to be and learn what they need to learn This is a safe place to ask questions. We are here to encourage our children’s passions and allow them freedom of choice. If you are new to unschooling or a veteran you are more than welcome! We want to value everyone’s opinion so please keep that in mind when giving your response. It is truly amazing what kind of inspiration can be had, by being involved with other unschooling families.
Sandra Dodd proposed the term "radical unschooling" to emphasize the complete rejection of any distinction between educational and non-educational activities.
