772 The first documented mention of Edigheim in the
Lorsch codex under the name Ottinchheim.
808 The first documented mention of Oppau in the Lorsch codex
under the name of Hophowa, part of Lobdengau (Ladenburg).
First reference of St. Martins Church.
836 Oppau/Edigheim now on right side of Rhine after shift in
riverbed.
888 Hoffowa belöngs to Wormsgau.
1190 A large part of the villages belong to the Count.
1227 A mayor heads the community government.
1277 The Zisterzien monastary of Schonau/Odenwald owns much land in
Oppau.
1356 The knights of Oberstein become the judicial authority in
Edigheim.
1470 Oppau Set on fire by Palatinate troops.
1556 Introduction of the Reformation by the Count.
1572 The first public school is documented.
1584 Craftsmen in Oppau: 2 Tailors, 1 Baker, 1 Blacksmith,
1 Strawcutter.
1591 First documentation of consecration of St. Martins Church.
1641 During the 30 year war only 6 families are left in Oppau; 3 in
Edigheim.
1655 Once again there are 40 families in Oppau, among them French,
Dutch & Swiss.
1657 The first schoolhouse is built for 32 Gulden, 8 Kreuzer.
1683 Now part of Oberschultheib Oggersheim.
1689 Edigheim destroyed by fire.
