This list is for people who have or are actively trying to have an open international adoption. It is also for people who have tried and failed to open an international adoption. We define "open adoption" as on-going contact with birth family in the hopes that the adoptee can pursue a relationship with their birth family, if they desire it, now or in the future.

We hope people will share, among other things, their hopes and fears, experiences, practical information and cultural knowledge. We believe in open adoption but there is little out there about international openness. There is much to be learned from each other.

Internationally adopted people and birthparents who support open adoption are most welcome.
