Description

+ WELCOME +

This is group for those of us on the left side of the church and in our right minds. A place where Christians can come together to prayerfully support social justice, progressive values, and a politics of compassion. A place where progressive Democratic politics and Christian faith find their intersection at the point of prayer. To join a larger conversation, check out our "bigger sister" website: CrossLeft.org

CARTOON FOR THE DAY:
Gary Varvel, The Indianapolis Star-News

LATE NIGHT JOKE OF THE DAY:
"The design for George W. Bush's presidential library was unveiled Wednesday in Dallas, and features a lantern-shaped roof that will glow at night. Mr. President, I don't want to make any more jokes about you being dumb, but you have to meet me halfway. Don't build a library where the lights are on when no one is home." -- Seth Meyers

VOICE OF THE DAY:
The basic human question is whether or not I have ever really cared for someone else, for their sake rather than my own, with no expectation of reward for the doing of it, with no need to have them even know it. If the answer is no, then I am still only in the process of becoming human.
-- Joan Chittister

VERSE OF THE DAY:
You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. -- John 15:3-4

PRAYER OF THE DAY: Eliminating Violence Against Women
We grieve the injustices that have been perpetrated against women throughout history, and we affirm the equality that you instilled when you created humanity. We pray especially for women in the developing world, who are often most grievously affected by war, conflict, and natural disasters. In your name, Jesus, we stand up against all violence against women.
