Doug,
I've done the heated wire thing, even on styrene, the copper cools down too
quickly to do any good. By the time you get the copper to the delrin or styrene,
it's cold. I still think changing the delrin to styrene is a good idea, I drill
small holes down the center and from the ends all the time. when doing it off
from the side, I file a very small flat, or scrape it with a razor blade, to
start it. Works every time.

<snip>If you look at the copper line running from
the Detroit Lubricator down to the drain cocks
collector, it required a 80 drill to get an opening in
the valve in which to thread the wire. This stuff is
delrin and strong as the devil but what a chore to
get the drill to go in straight.<snip>

Allen-
Just an idea, not that familiar with delrin- What
would happen if you heated the end of the copper wire
and pressed it into the delrin ?? Might be easier than
trying to drill- or at least give you a "centerpunch" effect....
