Re: [On30] Re: Backhead details

I like to switch around, although I model mostly HO, I am just getting my feet
wet in On30, although I have a ton of models in On30, including many machines by
Western Scale with a future machine shop planned. I have also several models in
HOn3, mostly Blackstone's models, K28 and some cars. Not sure how I want to play
that one out, maybe a small shelf layout or incorporate it into my HO, who
knows. But I also like to give railroading a long break and get into 1/48th
scale model ship building, modeling the British sails of the Napoleonic era. I
have a lot of framework done on the HMS Victory, needing to start on the
planking, this will be a 52" long model when finished. All scratchbuilt too. I
like HO to scratchbuild in because of the challenge to model small details. I'm
a little strange, I know, just ask my wife. She won't argue. :-))

Looking forward to your article in the On30 Annual. I also have the little
Tom Yorke "Loco Poco" expo and a nice collection of modified Moguls by some of
the members of the Hudson Valley On30 Meet group. Nice stuff.

Tried Sn2 way back when using HOn3 mechs. and trucks doing essentially what I
am now doing in On30. I now have found my home and will stick with this gauge
and scale indefinitely.

not O scale, but wait, there's more, in the new On30 Annual, I have another
article, did I mention this before? Well anyway, the O scale building I did is
my first O scale scratchbuild.

Considering your boiler and scale is half the size of my backhead your work is
quite impressive. I have to remark on the nice subtle weathering all around, not
overdone and very believable . Just a fine piece of work and the stone bldg. is
quite handsome too. Looking forward to seeing more of your work in O scale.
PARTY ON!!!

only one thing. Get down on the floor, bow and shout; "I am not worthy, I am not
worthy"!!! This was a trying exercise, gratifying when accomplished but I almost
gave up on a number of occasions. I cannot imagine doing this in HO, maybe when
I was 16 or 20 years old, but not at 68.
