I have been using Arduinos for the last year or so for my stuff. They are
essentially compatible with the Omniport stuff -- but include an excellent
development package and bootloader, so writing code and getting it running is

In particular, I have been using LEDuinos, since these are a Arduno variant with
optional CAN interface and rudimentary Loconet connection. See:
