Description
This group is dedicated to those wanting to get started as saltwater flyfishers. Be patient, we'll help you. Just ask.
Inshore fly fishing is a blast! When you catch your first redfish, seatrout or lady fish you'll be hooked for life. Unfortunately, we're faced with strong winds most of the time. Casting skills need to be developed to where you should be able to cast forty to fifty feet, so learning to double haul is essential.
The success we have in saltwater fly fishing is chronicled in the articles and fishing reports posted on this site. I'm not a guide. I and others that contribute to this site are just weekend anglers who want to make the most of the little time we have to fish.
Everyone who wants to contribute is encouraged to share fly fishing experiences, good and bad, so that we can learn from each other.
I love to fish for redfish and seatrout and talk to as many people as possible about the sport. Everyone is welcome, gals and guys. If your interested in spending time fishing on coastal waters, join us. We welcome guides also.
Although fly fishing is the primary interest and the topic of discussion, members are encouraged to share their fishing experiences through stories, photographs, and flytying recipes.
We get excited with the little things. If you would like to have one of your pictures posted, please send it to me directly or post it in the photos section. For more information about my website go to http://www.redfishonthefly.com.

Black drum have been on the flats for a couple of weeks. They are a tough quarry to coax on a fly rod. It would probably be easier to cast a live or dead
