A forum for coalition members to exchange ideas and come together for the purpose of making Oklahoma a better place to live for people with disabilities. Unnecessary segregation, isolation and institutionalization is a form of discrimination, according to the U. S. Supreme Court in its opinion in Olmstead v. L.C. On June 15, 2000, the Oklahoma Health Care Authority announced its intention to develop a comprehensive working plan to implement Olmstead. There was a sense of cooperation created by the meeting. A coalition is forming to work on behalf of people with disabilities and their issues. People in this coalition will be part of the solution, instead of part of the problem.
