The Oaken Freebies group is open to all who want to "recycle" that special something rather than throw it away. It is based on the ideas behind the mundane world's Freecycle program (this was supposed to be one, but they don't do niche groups.)

This group differs in that we ask the Oaken community to list or ask for SCA related items only (stuff not normally listed on a freecycle group, as we do look for and offer some pretty strange items that most mundanes neither have nor need). Please use your mundane local freecycle group to list normal, everyday items unless there is a SCA use they could be put to (please specify when listing). Mundane freecycle group listings can be found by doing a search on Yahoo.

One main rule: everything posted must be free. This means that there is no trading, barter, any other type of exchange, or advertising your yard sale (as it wouldn't all be SCA stuff and you'd be making money on it). The recycling of old garb, armor, fabric, publications, looms, etc. comes from the goodness of your heart and a willingness to help others out who could use some of the things you no longer need or use.

We ask that you use the following keywords in your subject line to help people sort thru the posts: Wanted; Needed; Offer; Pending; Taken. Also, so that this doesn't turn into a flurry of Want and Need posts: please try to keep the number of items you ask for approximately equal to the number and value of things you offer. To see your request/offer ratio, just do a search on your screen name (link for search is at the top of the message screen), and it should give you a fair idea how you're doing. When you first join, we ask that you post an offer before you post a want or need. Also please don't continuously ask for high ticket items as that can get annoying to other list members.
