Many homeschool groups are organized around a specific religious denomination or educational style. This homeschool group is organized around a specific parenting philosophy instead.

Our members tend to feel comfortable with:

Birthing with minimal to zero medical interventions
Breastfeeding, many for 2 years or more
Sharing sleeping space as a family
Practicing gentle, positive discipline
Attachment parenting

Our members tend to feel uncomfortable with:

Circumcision
Formula feeding as a first resort
Sleep discipline programs or "crying it out"
Punitive child discipline

There is no particular educational style or religious belief that unites our members and this is intended to be an inclusive group beyond the above characteristics. If you have changed over time in your parenting journey (and who hasn't?) and come to feel more at home in our 'comfort zone', you are completely welcome regardless of how you may have chosen to parent in the past. To quote Maya Angelou, "You did what you knew how to do, and when you knew better, you did better."

If you feel offended by some of the above constraints then this list is probably not for you. Respectful discussion is always welcome, but this is not a debate group. I intend it to be a place for those who are parenting outside the mainstream and might feel left out of other homeschooling groups.
