Two networking groups, North East Global(NEIndiaPro & NEEduNCareer - created Jan 2003) and Xarothi (created Aug 2003) came together in August 2003 for a higher cause - "Creating the NorthEastIndia Interest Group".

The mission - To promote and further the cause of the NE entrepeneurs, professionals and students - help them find jobs and pursue higher studies in different parts of India and abroad.

a) Create an online society of a professional network and a students’ network - with mutually benefiting goals. In this regard, the NorthEastIndia@yahoogroups.com is solely dedicated to Professionals while nepifmail@yahoogroups.com is for the students with special emphasis on their career needs.
b) Promote "interactions" between the professionals and entrepreneurs. This "network" would play a significant role in career advancement. A strong Professionals network ensures a better Students network.
c) Promote entrepreneurship amongst professionals by mentoring and networking.
d) Spread the word about exceptional NE professionals in the form of articles/news clippings.
e) Invite all interested people to take part and share information/articles that address a specific problem in the North East.
f) Act as a change agent in the human resources development of the NE.

A few do's and dont's
a. Restrict discussion to the above mentioned specific items. Do not post arbitrary emails (jokes, chain mails ensuring fortune,).
b. Do not post emails congratulating the founders.
c. Do not send CVs directly to the Network. Instead, send it to the concerned person. No personal emails as response!!
d. Do trim your mails when you respond to somebody's query in the group
