NorthCommons is an informal forum and message board for residents of the North Commons neighborhood in Cambridge, Massachusetts. North Commons is the area circumscribed by Linnaean, Avon, and Shepard Streets, and Massachusetts Avenue. It is part of the larger area stretching from Waterhouse Street at the Cambridge Common to Linnaean Street, known historically as the Lower Common.

The purpose of the North Commons listserv is to enhance residents’ sense of community through contact with their neighbors over issues of common interest. Members of the listserv are welcome to post crime alerts; discussions of neighborhood issues and problems; announcements of city business impacting the neighborhood; family news, announcements of events; services offered by kids and others, e.g., babysitting, dog walking, snow shoveling; yard sale and block party notices; bird sightings; plants to swap; rooms, apartments, and homes for rent or sale; things for sale, lost dog/cat notices, and other items of interest.

Until June 2005, the list was called "PeabodyCommons", a reference to the Peabody School which was located in this neighborhood until the school consolidation in 2003, when the Peabody moved to the Fitzgerald School building on Rindge Ave., and the Graham and Parks School moved into the building on Linnaean Street.

Membership is limited to neighborhood residents. Members of the Avon Hill Friends and Neighbors listserv are welcome.
