Hello, and welcome to Northern California Friends of Ishmael. We are an online, regional discussion group focussed on the literary works and concepts of Daniel Quinn, author of the revolutionary "Ishmael", among others. Topics of discussion include the destructive path of civilization, memes, non-totalitarian agricultural peoples, modern tribal businesses and ventures, alternative institutions, systems thinking, population control, pollution, activism, changing the story of culture, and walking away or draining the resources from civilization.

We may also occasionally meet in person. Most of our members are from the Northern California area, including: Eureka, Redding, Chico, Yuba/Sutter/Marysville, Grass Valley/Nevada City, Roseville, Davis, Sacramento and surrounding areas. As we grow, we may decide to split into more localized groups for convenience. In the meantime, we will try to accomodate meeting places at various locations to give all members the opportunity to gather in person if they wish.
